HEAD:
With Brown Sugar Yarn:
Round 1: Ch 2, 8 sc into first ch st. (8 sts)
Rounds are worked continuously. Place a st marker in the first st of round. Move it up with each new round to keep track of start of round.
Round 2: 2 sc into each st. (16 sts)
Round 3: *2 sc, sc in next st, repeat from * to end of round. (24 sts)
Round 4: *2 sc, sc in next 2 sts, repeat from * to end of round. (32 sts)
Rounds 5-8: sc in each st around.
Round 9: *2 sc, sc, 2 sc, sc, 2 sc, sc in next 11 sts, repeat from * to end of round. (38 sts)
Rounds 10-12: sc in each st around.
Round 13: *Sc2tog three times, sc in next 13 sts, repeat from * to end of round. (32 sts)
Round 14: sc2tog, sc in next 2 sts, repeat from * to end of round. (24 sts)
Round 15: sc2tog, sc in next 2 sts, repeat from * to end of round. (16 sts)
Round 16: sc in blo of each st around.
Round 17: sc2tog, sc in next st, repeat from * to end of round. (8 sts)

MOUTH PIECE:
With Toffee Yarn:
Round 1: Ch 2, 8 sc into first ch st. (8 sts)
Rounds are worked continuously. Place a st marker in the first st of round. Move it up with each new round to keep track of start of round.
Round 2: 2 sc into each st, sl st into top of first sc. (16 sts)
Round 3: *2 sc, sc in next st, repeat from * to end of round. (24 sts)
Round 4: sc in each st around.
Tie off yarn with a long tail for sewing.

NOSE:
With Cocoa Yarn:
Row 1: Ch 2, 2 sc in first st. Turn. (2 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in last st. Turn. (3 sts)
Row 3: Repeat row 2. (4 sts)
Tie off yarn with a long tail for sewing.
Stitch nose to mouth piece.
Make another long stitch coming from the bottom of nose to make the mouth line.
When nose is in place, stitch mouth piece to finished head piece.
Cut a length of Toffee yarn.
Thread one end through the back of the head, and out bottom of the mouth piece, leaving the end out the back of the head.
Move over one stitch on the mouth piece and thread the yarn back through the head again, coming out the same hole as the first end.
Pull to cinch the mouth piece.
Knot the ends at the back of the Head, then thread them into the Head to hide them.

EYES:
Cut a length of Cocoa yarn.
Stitch arc shaped eyes onto the otter's head with an embroidery back stitch.

EARS:
With Brown Sugar Yarn:
Make 2.
Round 1: Ch 2, 8 sc into first ch st. (8 sts)
Rounds are worked continuously. Place a st marker in the first st of round.
Move it up with each new round to keep track of start of round.
Round 2: sc in each st around.
Tie off yarn with a long tail for sewing.

BODY:
With Brown Sugar Yarn:
Attach the yarn to the front loops that were skipped from Round 16 of the head.
Round 1: Ch 2 (counts as first dc), dc in each front loop around, sl st to top of ch 2. (16 sts
Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc, dc in 6, 2 dc, 2 dc, dc in 6 sts, 2 dc in last st. (20 sts)
Round 3: Ch 2, *dc in next st, 2 dc, repeat from * to end of round. (32 sts)
Rounds 4-8: dc in each st around.
Do not tie off.
Proceed to Leg 1.

LEG 1:
Round 1: Ch 2, dc in next 7 sts, mark next st, skip the next 16 sts of the last body row, dc working in both the marked st and the 17th st, dc in the last 7 sts, sl st into top of ch 2. (15 sts)
Rounds 2: Ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st into top of ch 2.
Round 3: Ch 2, *dc2tog, dc in next st, repeat from * to end of round. (10 sts)
Rounds 4-11: Ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st into top of ch 2.
Round 12: Ch 2, *2 dc, dc in next st, repeat from * to end of round. (15 sts)
Rounds 13-16: Ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st into top of ch 2.
Round 17: Ch 1, sc2tog around, sl st into top of ch 2.
Tie off yarn leaving a long tail for sewing.
Stitch the hole closed at the bottom of the foot.
Tie the leg into a knot.

LEG 2:
Attach yarn through the first 2 stitches leftover from the last body round.
When the piece is laying face down, this is the first 2 unworked stitches on either side, located between the two legs.
Round 1: Ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st into top of ch 2 to close round. (15 sts)
Round 2: Ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st into top of ch 2.
Round 3: Ch 2, *dc2tog, dc in next st, repeat from * to end of round. (10 sts)
Rounds 4-11: Ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st into top of ch 2.
Round 12: Ch 2, *2 dc, dc in next st, repeat from * to end of round. (15 sts)
Rounds 13-16: Ch 2, dc in each st around, sl st into top of ch 2.
Round 17: Ch 1, sc2tog around, sl st into top of ch 2.
Tie off yarn leaving a long tail for sewing.
Stitch the hole closed at the bottom of the foot.
Tie the leg into a knot.
Stitch the Head to the finished body piece.

BELLY:
With Toffee Yarn:
Row 1: Ch 9, dc in second ch from hook and each ch to end of row. (7 sts)
Row 2: Ch 2 (does not count as a st), dc in each st to last st of row, 2 dc in last st. Turn. (8 sts)
Rows 3-10: Repeat row 2. (13 sts)
Row 11: Ch 2, dc2tog twice, dc in each st to last 4 sts of row, dc2tog twice more. Turn. (14 sts)
Row 12: Ch 1, sc in each st to end of row.
Tie off yarn leaving a long tail.
Position on front of otter and sew to front along the edge.

ARMS:
With Brown Sugar Yarn:
Make 2.
Round 1: Ch 3, 8 dc into first ch st, sl st into top of first st. (8 sts)
Rounds 2-8: Ch 2 (counts as a st), dc into each st, sl st into top of ch 2.
Stitch the arms to the body.

TAIL:
With Brown Sugar Yarn:
Round 1: Ch 3, 5 dc into first ch st, sl st into top of first st. (5 sts)
Round 2: Ch 2 (counts as a st), 2 dc into first st, dc in each st to last st, 2 dc in last st, sl st into top of ch 2. (7 sts)
Round 3-5: Repeat round 2. (13 sts)
Round 6: Ch 2, *2 dc, dc in next 2 sts, repeat from * to end of round, sl st into top of ch 2. (17 sts)
Round 7: Ch 2, dc into each st, sl st into top of ch 2.
Round 8: Ch 2, *2 dc, dc in next 3 sts, repeat from * to end of round, sl st into top of ch 2. (21 sts)
Round 9: Ch 2, dc into each st, sl st into top of ch 2.
Round 10: Ch 2, *2 dc, dc in next 4 sts, repeat from * to end of round, sl st into top of ch 2. (25 sts)

Stitch to the back side of the body.

SEASHELL:
With Scrap Worsted Yarn:
Ch 9.
Row 1: Sc in first 2 sts, hdc in 3 sts, dc in last 3 sts. Turn. (8 sts)
Row 2: Ch 2 (does not count as a st), dc in blo of first 3 sts, hdc in blo of 3 sts, sc in blo of last 2 sts. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in blo of first 2 sts, hdc in blo of 3 sts, dc in blo of last 3 sts. Turn.
Rows 4-5: Repeat rows 2 and 3.
Row 6: Repeat row 2.
Rotate piece and work row 7 along the edge of previous rows.
Row 7: Ch 1, 2 sc in first row, sc in each row to last row, 2 sc in last row. (8 sts)
Tie off yarn leaving a long tail for sewing.
Stitch the Shell to the chest of the otter body.
Fold the arms into the middle of the body and stitch them in place on either edge of the shell.
