Looking for some Airbnb profile examples? Well you have come to the right spot! This article will explain exactly how to write the perfect Airbnb profile in 5 easy steps.
As a guest, it’s paramount that you describe yourself well in your Airbnb profile description. An Airbnb host will not know you from a bar of soap, so a good profile helps build trust. It will lead to hosts accepting your booking request every time.
Likewise, a good Airbnb host will always have a great profile. If a guest doesn’t like the look of you, it will begin to effect your booking rate. By writing a great description, you will potentially attract more customers to book with you.
Therefore, I have put together some tips and examples to help you write a good Airbnb profile. Let’s get started!
What should I write in my Airbnb profile?
Okay, first things first, the big question – what should I write in my Airbnb profile?
There are 5 sections to focus on in particular; description, verification, picture, reviews and information. If you nail these things, you’ll stand out by zooming past 90% of Airbnb users who never take the time.
Sections | Examples |
Verifications: | Government ID, Email, Phone Number, etc |
Profile Picture: | Clear photo of your face with a big smile, 1024px x 683px |
Good Reviews: | Good reviews are a must. Hosts will always look at this |
Good Description: | Write about hobbies, passions, interests. Keep it light, write at least 4-5 paragraphs |
Extra Info: | Languages Spoken, Your Location, Socials, etc |
Next, let’s delve into these five areas in a bit more detail.
#1 Describe yourself well
The key to making a good Airbnb profile is to describe yourself well, but how exactly do you do that?
First things first, the aim is to sell yourself, but to also come across as relatable. In other words, keep it nice and light and try not to be too formal.
Secondly, go into a bit of detail and write 4-5 paragraphs. The more information you can write about yourself, the better. Talk about your interests, hobbies, occupation, where you grew up, and so forth. Take a look at the below Airbnb profile example for some inspiration:
Hey, I’m P. Duckworth!
I was born in Port Villa and grew up in Australia and am now in my 30s. I recently left my job as a writer so I could live my dream of travelling the world and seeing the sights.
I’m fun and easy going and really love meeting new people on my adventures. I’ve stayed in Airbnb’s all over the world and have met some great people on the platform who I now call my friends.
My favourite things in the world are music (I play piano!), animals, photography and sports. I especially love the outdoors and camping. Oh, and I love coffee!
I also have a passion for learning new languages which has come in helpful on my travels. Along with English, I speak some Spanish, German and French.

It really is as easy as that. As you can see from the example, I kept it light and give people a good glimpse of what they can expect. When describing yourself, consider some of the topics below for inspiration.
Airbnb profile description examples you could use:
- What are your hobbies and interests?
- Where do you like to travel the most?
- What is your occupation?
- Your favourite sports, books, foods, movies, music etc.
- How many languages do you speak?
- Are you married? Do you have children?
Your profile will vary depending on whether you’re an Airbnb host or guest (or both). If you are a host, I recommend describing your place a little and mention that you love meeting new people.
#2 Contact Details & Verifications
Verifying your Airbnb profile is the next step to take, and it’s a very important step. I am continually amazed by the amount of people who fail to verify their accounts. There is simply no reason not to!
There are three ways to verify your Airbnb profile:
- Government ID
- Email Address
- Phone Number
I strongly recommend verifying all three of these options. You may be wondering to yourself who can see my Airbnb profile? The answer is nobody, as Airbnb keeps your information private so nobody can see it.
The benefit of verifying your account is to build trust. Put yourself in a hosts shoes for just a moment. If a guest who has no verification’s tries to book your home, would you feel comfortable?
On the other hand, would you feel better if they had their government ID and phone number verified? I know I certainly would!
Another thing to consider is the more contact details you provide, the better. Providing a contact email or phone number will make it easier for your host or guest to contact you if needed.
On top of all that, you can even connect your Facebook, Twitter and Google accounts to your profile. This is another awesome way to build trust from the get go. Not to mention it will increase the chances of a host accepting your booking requests.
So in summary, be sure to verify your Airbnb profile with the examples above. Especially a government ID.
#3 A great Airbnb Profile Picture
You don’t need me to tell you the importance of an Airbnb profile picture. In many aspects, this may be the most crucial part of creating your profile.
Take it from me, I have been an Airbnb host for many years now and I’ve seen all sorts of crazy profile photos. For example, I’ve seen blank photos, cartoon characters, pictures of landscapes, to name a few. I have even seen stock photos that are clearly fake. Straight away alarm bells begin to ring, which is what you want to avoid.
The perfect Airbnb profile picture is one that shows your face clearly with a big smile. Ensure your eyes are clearly visible and your hair and clothes are looking nice. It’s also a good idea to make sure the photo is bright and vibrant, rather than dark and shadowy.
Seriously, doing this will put you ahead of most Airbnb users. It may seem straight forward, but so many people struggle to use a good profile picture.
Airbnb profile photo requirements
So what are the Airbnb profile photo requirements? A good start would be reading their T&Cs page.
To summarise, Airbnb requires you to provide at least one profile photo that shows your face. It’s important to remember that many hosts require a guest has a photo as a form of verification.
Hosts are within their rights to reject bookings from guests who do not have a valid profile photo.
What are the Airbnb photo dimensions?
What are the Airbnb photo dimensions? As of 2023, the new optimal Airbnb profile photo size is800 x 800 pixels. For your listing, the optimal size is 1024 x 683 pixels, or in other words a 3:2 ratio.
It’s important to get the resolution of your photo right for a number of reasons. First, Airbnb will automatically adjust the size to fit their criteria. Second, if your picture is the wrong dimensions, it may appear blurred or distorted. This is not good!
#4 Get good reviews!
Another key point to consider is getting good Airbnb reviews. The more great reviews you get, the better you will appear.
Hosts will head straight to the review section of your profile when they get a booking request. You can bet your last dollar they want to read what other hosts have said about you. Therefore if you have bad reviews, you can kiss goodbye any chance them accepting you.
Airbnb reviews is quite a thorough topic so I wont go into too much detail in this article. But it would serve you well to read some of my articles on the topic at the links below.

#5 Extra information
As I have explained so far, it’s important to sell yourself well in your bio. Another great way to do that is by adding extra information about yourself to stand out.
By that, I mean info such as languages you speak and where you live. You can also connect your accounts such as Facebook, Twitter, Google and Instagram. This is just another way of building trust and filling out your Airbnb profile.
In the event you are a Superhost, a badge will appear next to your name. I have written a guide about what it means to be an Airbnb Superhost if you’d like more information.
Airbnb host profile examples
Most of what I have given you so far relates more to guests, so here are some Airbnb host profile examples.
As a host, you want to portray that you’re a great host. You could start with something simple like how long have you been an Airbnb host for. Also you could go into some detail about why you love being a host.
On top of that, be sure to mention something about your hosting style. Maybe you live on site or just a few blocks away? Let guests know you are always available and not far away if they need anything.
Furthermore, you may be the type of host that loves socialising with guests. Write in your profile that you enjoy showing guests around town. Who knows, this may snare you a few extra bookings if people like what they read.
It’s also good idea to mention something about your property in your profile. Was your property recently renovated? Mention that in your description. The more information you can provide, the better it is for you.
Check out a couple of example Airbnb host profiles below for some inspiration.
Airbnb Profile Description Sample
Hi, I’m Duckworth.
I am a happy go lucky duck from sunny Port Villa. My love of travelling has taken me all over the world, but I always love coming back home to Port Villa.
Some of my interests include learning new languages, playing piano and camping in the outdoors. I also love watching movies and sports and try to keep very active.
I have seen my fair share of hotels and Airbnb houses on my travels. As a host, I can’t wait to show fellow travellers the same great hospitality that I have had across the globe.
My property is just 5 minutes from the beach and you will have the entire place to yourself. I live nearby and would love to show you around if that’s something you would like.
