Lost souls is now easy because soul attainment strat
I normally do lost souls for fun also hardcore (not polluted because blindly shooting spam)
I struggle with lost souls since it came out and a few weeks later, but I took a break and came back a month later and beat it easily

And yes, it is impossible to win Lost Souls solo.
