(This day ahead recap episode airs in the USA on July 5. Expect spoilers! Recaps go live by 4:15 PM EST daily.)
In Chelsea’s suite in Baltimore, she and Adam sit on the bed with their backs to each other as they button up their clothes.
He asks if she wants to talk about what happened.
She wouldn’t know where to begin and isn’t sure what happened.
He’s at a loss to. It just happened.
They have been living this nightmare together and it spilled over tonight. The anxiety and the love.
They got caught up in their positive memories and the love. She says it was just an unexpected slip.
“A mistake,” he adds.
With a little pushing, she agrees. “I guess you can call it that.”
He suggests they never talk about this with anyone.
She agrees to put it behind them. They were just trying to deal with what happened to Connor and focusing on the good memories and trying to forget the bad ones. “It was only natural that we turn to each other.”
Adam says, “I needed that. We both did.” She says this doesn’t make her less committed to Billy or him to Sally.
Adam agrees. She thinks they could always blame the bourbon. Adam scoffs. “Yeah, right. Time-honored tradition. Blame the booze.”
It was only natural for them to turn to each other but this doesn’t change their commitments to other people.
She shows him to the door and they hope there will be good news about their son tomorrow.
Once he’s gone, she calls Billy and leaves a rambling message, saying she wants to come home.
She can’t wait in limbo any longer and wants to be near him.
In Adam’s room, he calls Sally and tells her he can’t stay there any longer.
It’s messing with his head and he needs to be there with her.
After they get off their phones, Chelsea and Adam both sigh, looking lost.
Nick finds Phyllis and Summer at Crimson Lights. They’re surprised to see him out so late. He’s just there for pastry.
Phyllis says they are just hanging out and griping. He offers to go but they are just complaining about Kyle.
Annoyed to hear this, Nick joins them and wishes he’d popped that dude in the mug.
Summer isn’t looking for a fistfight. Kyle keeps making bad decisions sure to end in disaster.
Phyllis wonders if this is about “Scary Poppins.” Summer says Claire is working out okay, but the way Kyle handled that situation was a red flag.
Even worse, he is involved with Audra again. Phyllis is appalled.
Nick needs more details. Summer says that Kyle and Audra seem to be conspiring.
Phyllis says Kyle has a bad track record for trusting women.
Her parents aren’t sure why Summer cares about Kyle screwing up his life. She claims she’s concerned about Harrison.
Nick thinks she may be looking for trouble. Summer is sure the vibes are bad.
She adds there is more but she’s not supposed to say. They prod her to talk and she crews up her lips.
She explains that Kyle is going to work with Audra in direct competition with Jabot.
Nick doesn’t get it. Summer explains that Diane fired her son. That makes no sense to her mom.
The bigger secret is how Audra got a cosmetic company. It all sounds shady.
Tucker will go after her hard and Kyle will be in the line of fire.
Summer worries that Harrison could be hurt due to his father’s recklessness. She wants him to spend more time with her.
Her parents wonder if that means she wants to take Harrison from his dad.
She’s hoping to to escalate things. Her parents say that’s wise. Lawyers make things worse.
Summer knows but can’t sit back and watch Kyle bringing chaos into Harrison’s life.
She’s been looking for houses with yards so Harrison can play in them.
Nick points out that Kyle is the biological father and she won’t win an argument about this unless Harrison is in direct danger.
Phyllis wonders if this is more about Claire than Audra.
Summer feels like she is not being supported and refuses to believe she’s the problem here. She storms out.
“We’re so good at this,” Nick says, sarcastically.
He hasn’t seen their daughter so “vehement” in a longtime. Phyllis says she gets that from them.
She agrees with him that thinking about custody right now is a bad idea.
Phyllis suggests their daughter is feeling guilty about the divorce and not being there for Harrison during the kidnapping.
She admits she feels guilty about that. The divorce wouldn’t have happened if not for the things she did in her war against Diane last year.
He tells her they need to stop blaming themselves. Things have worked out.
She thanks him for never fighting for Supergirl’s custody. She wouldn’t have been able to get over that after what happened with Daniel.
He says they can never stop looking out for their daughter. She worries that something is pushing her to the extreme.
