How to write a good review for an Airbnb? ›

5-star review! Clean, quiet, communicative, and respectful. Couldn't ask for a better guest. We had such a great time hosting you. Everything went smoothly and the place was left in tip-top shape.

Thank you for choosing our vacation rental for your stay, and we hope to have the chance to welcome you back in the future. Dear [Guest], Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are sorry to hear that you experienced poor property management during your stay.

To leave a good review, simply express your positive experience with the product, service, or business in a concise and genuine manner. Highlight the aspects you loved the most and be specific about what impressed you. Use positive language and mention any standout features or exceptional customer service you received.

Review examples:

"The staff at this hotel were incredibly welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The rooms were immaculate and very comfortable. We also enjoyed the delicious breakfast each morning and loved the convenient location close to major attractions."

Here's an example of one of the reviews on Booking.com sharing a customer's experience. Great stay at [hotel name] – excellent service and atmosphere. Clean room, stunning views, and top-notch amenities. Our stay at [hotel name] was an unforgettable experience; the rooms were spacious and clean, with amazing views.

Becoming a Superhost does not depend on the number of reviews you manage to collect. On the other hand, you do have to maintain a 4.8 or higher average overall rating and meet a number of other criteria.

And so we know that the average rating for homes in the US on Airbnb was 4.74 stars in 2022. And it was pretty much identical in 2021 and 2019, according to a market research firm called AirDNA. But if hosts receive an overall rating of one to three stars, they're essentially in trouble.

Removing reviews

Once a review you've written has been published, you can contact us to request for it to be removed.

Can I remove a bad review on Airbnb? ›

You can't remove a review written about you, but you still have some options, such as responding or disputing it. Here are cases where it might make sense to ask that a review be removed.

Your detailed ratings for past stays, as well as your overall category and averaged ratings across stays, can only be read by Hosts when you request or book a stay with them in the future. Categories with positive ratings (4-5) will be displayed with a check mark and negative ratings (1-3) with a warning icon.

Here is one of the good Airbnb reviews examples left on the platform. “Home away from home! Our apartment stay by ABC was spacious, clean, and equipped with everything we needed. Convenient location and seamless check-in made it a perfect choice for a comfortable getaway.”

Reviews should be unbiased

They also may not be used as an attempt to mislead or deceive Airbnb or another person. For example, guests should not write biased or inauthentic reviews as a form of retaliation against a Host who enforces a policy or rule.

If you enjoyed your stay, in your 5-star review, noting specific things you enjoyed is the perfect way to compliment an Airbnb host. For example, consider mentioning that you thought the property was cozy, well-stocked, and had the perfect layout for spending time with friends and family.

As you create your Airbnb profile description, write in a conversational manner. A perfect description should sound approachable and friendly. A good way to sound less formal is to use contractions in your writing. Don't be afraid to get creative and have some fun.

How do I ask for 5-star reviews on Airbnb? The key is to stay in communication with your guests throughout the entire stay, not just after they check out. Tell them candidly that you're striving for a 5-star stay and ask them how their stay is going, if they need anything, and if everything is up to their standards.
