100 days, 2400 hours, and 144,000 minutes. Why do we celebrate 100 days of school? This marks a point in the year where students are more than half-way through the 180 day school year. It is a time to reflect on all the learning that has taken place so far. The celebration began by a California teacher in 1979 who was trying to help her students understand the concrete lesson of the number 100. We continue this tradtion in 2024 by dressing as centarians, various counting activities, and reflectively thinking about the learning that has taken place so far. Here at Hannum there was a school-wide Bear Hunt for 100 Bears that were hidden throughout classrooms, hallways, and offices. Mrs. Paluch challenged her students to come up with 100 things they have learned so far this year. Mrs. McAuliffe, Mrs. Burns, and Mrs. Carmichaelused old age filters to print pictures of what students "may" look when they are 100. It has been fun celebrating this pausing point in the school year, but we need to remember there are still 80 days left to go!!
