There are moments in life when you feel that a lot of your efforts to succeed in your quest to elevate are unnoticed, disregarded and unappreciated. It is during those moments you search for any signs of reassurance that you’re on the right path. On one of the days that I experienced a moment like this, and it was a rainy, gloomy day, while driving, I looked to my left and saw this, and it stayed in sight until I arrived at my destination. It wasn’t the rainbow that gave me the reassurance, it was the Sun! A rainbow cannot appear without the sun shining on the rain, so it is the sun that creates the beauty of hope! Final thought: Although your day may be cloudy and rainy, the sun still shines above it all, and will eventually appear to create your reminder to keep pressing forward in life! #keepmovingforward

Had such an amazing time this afternoon at the Memorial Emerging Leaders Kickoff!! I was reignited and inspired, especially by our keynote speaker, Jon Pickett, MBA. Our executive sponsor, Margie Vargas never disappoints with inspiring words. All of the MMCEL team presented well and made us all feel welcomed at today’s kickoff!! I am looking forward to this exciting experience.#MMCEmergingLeaders

BE A MOOD CHANGER“Good morning!”, “Hello!”, “Hi!”These are three basic salutations we may experience throughout the workday that can often change your mood.A key point to remember: It’s also how these salutations are delivered, tone and manner counts! The official definition of mood is a temporary state of mind or feeling. The operative word is temporary. Bad moods should only be temporary, and not long term. The companions to bad mood are fear, worry, anger, hatred, negativity, and disdain to name a few, and we all experience them. Sustaining these emotions for long periods of time can manifest physical effects such as headaches, migraines, high blood pressure, and other physical manifestations. For those who hold down a regular full-time job, the bulk of our waking hours in a day are spent at work. Your field of work depends on how many encounters, or human interactions you may have throughout the day.The challenges to speaking or receiving these salutations is often determined by how your day is going at any given moment. Although each role in our workplaces have different stress and pressure levels, it is still refreshing when someone gives kind salutations throughout the day. I have also experienced warm smiles during these exchanges, realizing that person is a mood changer. I want to encourage you all to always be cognizant that someone could be experiencing a challenging day, whether the challenge started at home, on the commute to work, or even after arriving at work, we all sometimes experience mood interruptions. Give warm salutations even if it is not reciprocated. Become a mood changer: your kind words and smile, tone and manner, could change the trajectory of somebody’s day.
