Nach der Promotion zur Professur

Die FAU fördert konsequent herausragende Nachwuchstalente, indem sie ihnen durch eine Berufung auf eine W1-Professur die Möglichkeit gibt, selbständig zu lehren und zu forschen. Die W1-Professur ist eine mögliche Qualifikationsphase in der wissenschaftlichen Karriere im Anschluss an die Promotion. W1-Professorinnen und -Professoren füllen den Aufgabenbereich einer Professur aus und qualifizieren sich dadurch für die Berufbarkeit auf eine Lebenszeitprofessur.

Durch ihre Innovationskraft verstärken die W1-Professorinnen und -Professoren die Forschungsschwerpunkte, setzen sich ebenso in der Lehre sowie in der Betreuung des wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchses ein und beteiligen sich an der akademischen Selbstverwaltung.

Die W1-Professur ist an der FAU sowohl befristet als auch mit Tenure-Track etabliert und wird jeweils passgenau eingesetzt. Für W1-Professuren werden hochkompetitive Berufungsverfahren nach den hohen Qualitäts- und Sicherheitsstandards der FAU durchgeführt, um die besten Nachwuchswissenschaftlerinnen und Nachwuchswissenschaftler aus dem In- und Ausland zu gewinnen.

Die W1-Professur ist eine der Zielgruppen im Rahmenkonzept zur Personalentwicklung für die Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler an der FAU: „Develop Your Talent at FAU“. Fragen der Gestaltung und Vorbereitung auf Evaluation und Berufungsverfahren nehmen hier neben der fachlichen und überfachlichen, didaktischen und führungsbezogenen Qualifikation einen deutlichen Stellenwert ein. Zudem stellt die FAU allen W1-Professuren Investitionsmittel im Rahmen einer Anschubfinanzierung zur Verfügung.
