Players inSonic Origins can play as Super Sonic in bothSonic 2 andSonic 3 & Knuckles.Sonic Origins is Sega's newest release that packages together classic retro titles from the Sega Genesis and Megadrive:Sonic the Hedgehog 1,Sonic 2,Sonic 3 & Knuckles, andSonic CD. In the original titles and in the remastered versions ofSonic Origins, players can turn into Sonic's supercharged form, Super Sonic.
Super Sonic is Sonic's transformation from his standard blue speedy form into one infused with the power of the Chaos Emeralds. When Sonic transforms into Super Sonic, he gains super speed and invulnerability. InSonic Origins, players can transform into Super Sonic in the same way they were able to do so in the original games. Historically, Sonic can only transform once he finds all of the Chaos Emeralds, a series of 7 powerful gems that appear throughout the franchise. Despite being called emeralds, only one is green. Regardless, the Chaos Emeralds are ancient and mystical relics that can be combined to create super transformations, like Sonic into Super Sonic.

How To Play As Super Sonic in Sonic Origins
InSonic 2, players can collect all seven Chaos Emeralds, collect at least 50 rings, jump, then press a particular button in mid-air to transform. On Playstation, press triangle. On Xbox, press Y. On the Switch, press X. As Super Sonic, the music changes to denote the change. In Super Sonic mode, the ring count will slowly drop, and the effect will wear off when Sonic either runs out of rings or dies. The Chaos Emeralds inSonic 2 can be found at each checkpoint.
In the checkpoints withinSonic 2inSonic Origins, Sonic will be in a half-pipe level filled with rings. If players can collect enough rings at each checkpoint three times, Sonic earns the Chaos Emerald. Do this for all seven Chaos Emerald levels, and Sonic can transform into Super Sonic.
InSonic 3 & Knuckles, players will have to earn the Chaos Emeralds by finding Giant Rings. A Giant Ring will transport players to a checkboard stage called Blue Spheres. Collect all the blue spheres without touching any red ones; once this puzzle is complete, Sonic earns the Chaos Emerald. Once all seven Chaos Emeralds are collected, players can transform Sonic into Super Sonic in a similar way to the mechanic inSonic 2.
