To set a passcode on theDropbox Android app:
- Open the Dropbox app.
- Tap Account.
- Tap the gear icon (orSettingsin older versions of the app).
- Under theFeaturessection, tapConfigure Passcode.
- TapTurn passcode on.
- Enter and confirm your new passcode.
Once you set a passcode, you will be required to enter it each time you launch or return to the Dropbox app.
From theConfigure Passcodesettings page, you can change your passcode or turn it off. You can also enable a setting that will delete anyoffline filesstored on your device if the wrong passcode is entered more than ten times.
To set a passcode on the Dropbox iPad app:
- Tap theSettingstab (the gear icon) at the bottom of the sidebar.
- TapPasscode Lock.
- TapTurn Passcode On.
- Enter and confirm your new passcode.
Now every time you launch or return to the Dropbox app, you'll be required to enter your passcode. Your device will be logged out from Dropbox if there are 10 consecutive failed passcode attempts.
You can change your passcode from thePasscode Locksettings.
To set a passcode on the Dropbox iPhone app:
- Tap theSettingstab (the gear icon) at the bottom of the screen.
- TapPasscode Lock.
- TapTurn Passcode On.
- Enter and confirm your new passcode.
Now every time you launch or return to the Dropbox app, you'll be required to enter your passcode. Your device will be logged out from Dropbox if there are 10 consecutive failed passcode attempts.

To set a passcode on the Dropbox Windows Phone app:
- From your root Dropbox on theFiles,Photos, orFavoritestab, tap theEllipsis (⋯)button from the app bar and selectSettings.
- Tap onSecurity.
- TogglePasscode Lockon.
- Enter and confirm your new passcode.
Now every time you launch or return to the Dropbox app, you'll be required to enter your passcode. Your device will be logged out from Dropbox if there are 10 consecutive failed passcode attempts.

To set a passcode on the Dropbox Windows tablet app:
- Swipe in from the right edge of your screen to bring up the Charms bar, and tap onSettings.
- SelectSecurity.
- TogglePasscode Lockon.
- Enter and confirm your new passcode.
Now every time you launch or return to the Dropbox app, you'll be required to enter your passcode. Your device will be logged out from Dropbox if there are 10 consecutive failed passcode attempts.
You can change your passcode in theSecuritysettings.
What if I forgot my passcode?
You can reset your passcode and turn off the passcode prompt by removing your Dropbox profile:
- Open your device's main Settings app.
- Find your Accounts settings.
- Select Dropbox.
- Select Remove account.
This will remove your Dropbox profile credentials, but it will not affect the contents of your Dropbox folder. The next time you open the Dropbox app, you will need to log in using your password, but a passcode will not be required.
If that doesn’t work, you can also log out of your device remotely from dropbox.com. The next time you open the Dropbox app on your device you will be prompted to log in, but a passcode won't be required.
