Set a four-digit passcode on a mobile device (2024)

To set a passcode on theDropbox Android app:

1. Open the Dropbox app.
2. Tap Account.
3. Tap the gear icon (orSettingsin older versions of the app).
4. Under theFeaturessection, tapConfigure Passcode.
5. TapTurn passcode on.
6. Enter and confirm your new passcode.

Once you set a passcode, you will be required to enter it each time you launch or return to the Dropbox app.

From theConfigure Passcodesettings page, you can change your passcode or turn it off. You can also enable a setting that will delete anyoffline filesstored on your device if the wrong passcode is entered more than ten times.

To set a passcode on the Dropbox iPad app:

1. Tap theSettingstab (the gear icon) at the bottom of the sidebar.
2. TapPasscode Lock.
3. TapTurn Passcode On.
4. Enter and confirm your new passcode.

Now every time you launch or return to the Dropbox app, you'll be required to enter your passcode. Your device will be logged out from Dropbox if there are 10 consecutive failed passcode attempts.

You can change your passcode from thePasscode Locksettings.

To set a passcode on the Dropbox iPhone app:

3. TapTurn Passcode On.
