10-3-1 RULEThis is a Sales formula suggesting that out of 10 prospects you can get 3 appointments and out those 3 appointments you can make 1 sale. The rule is not as neat and there qualifications to it. This rule applies to anyone who sells something including those selling their labour for a wage. I am sensing some discouragement amongst friends and colleagues who go out to the market applying for jobs and nothing comes of those efforts and I want to remind us all of the Sales 10-3-1 Rule. Applying this rule you have to count 10 qualified prospects (Job interviews that you have bee invited to) NOT the number of CV you have sent. From the 10 interviews, 3 may shortlist you. And how do you know you have been shortlisted, you may ask? You are invited for a second interview, Medical tests or any meaningful engagement with the prospective employer and out of that 1 offer can be made. With that said, remember the rule is not as neat as suggested further there are many dynamics outside your control that are at play and you just have to continue to put yourself out there until something comes up.

Not all recruitment agencies are legitimate. Some are Spamming agencies with malicious intent. Even when you unsubscribe they stay on. My advice is to mark them on your Google account as SPAM and the messages can be directed to you spam folder.

Rising Interest RatesYou'd expect Economists to be neutral and let facts speak for themselves, largely to correct for their two-handed-policy bias and to a lesser extent because facts should prevail and approach thereto should be according to the training, skills and experience Economists acquire over the years.Economists make a case on one hand and counter it on another. There's probably a case to be made that only one-handed economists should be taken seriously. If you have both your hands as an economists consider taking another vocation or do the needful. Amputate. That is a side issue. The main issue: If you take Duma Gqubule's views on SARB's interest-rate stance and compare it with that of Dawie Roodt's, you get a perfect collision. Gqubule is against the constantly rising interest rates while Roodt suggests it is the right thing and both defend their respective position with facts. The question is, who's right?

BRICS: The much touted interest by other states to join the BRICS block may not be a good thing. This will dilute the block, delay its implementations and have more players to make happy and this increases areas of divergence. All interested parties should form their own blocks and if there is interest in partnering with the BRICS member states, fine. That can be another block altogether much like how things are currently happening all over the world. Trade blocks are a dime and a dozen and the wider the trade block the more players to make happy which creates conflicting interests and slows down decision making and renders the whole union irrelevant.
