Ironman Mode Tips
One of the many features that sets Ready or Not apart from its other first-person shooter competition is the game's emphasis on realism. Rather than being a one-man army blasting through a seemingly infinite swarm of enemy soldiers, you are now part of a five-person SWAT team where tactics and careful strategy keep you alive as you carefully maneuver through buildings containing hostages and identify threats.
Coordinating with your teammates is the highlight of Ready or Not, as watching out for your squad becomes much more integral to your success. Ironman Mode, which is only available in the single-player campaign, adds several new components to the game that doubles the importance of taking care of your team.
What Does Ironman Mode Do
Ironman Mode is an extra challenge only available in the single-player campaign, known as Commander Mode.
Commander Mode itself has a couple of unique features that increase difficulty, such as squad specific traits, no level restarts, and a stress mechanic for your squad.
On top of the already present challenges of Commander Mode, Ironman Mode adds an extra challenge through permadeath - once you die, your game is over and your save file is now gone. Now, not only do you have to be careful with the lives of your squad mates, you need to be extra mindful of your own.
How To Enable Ironman Mode
Turning Ironman Mode on or off is a simple process that can only be done in the main menu before you start Commander Mode.
From the main menu, go to Singleplayer and then click Commander. When you're at the screen showing your current saves, you'll see Ironman buttons under each file that should currently say "disabled".
Just click on "disabled" and then it will switch over to "enabled", making that save activated for Ironman Mode.
Ironman Mode Tips
One of the first and most important aspects of surviving an Ironman game is having good management of your squad.
Losing any members of your team will always be detrimental, so take extra care in examining their traits and keeping an eye on stress.
Remember that you can always exfiltrate from the level if things are getting dicey. Just be mindful of the stress on the officers when doing so, as they might leave your team.
Another good note is to make sure you never underestimate the planning phase of the operation.
