Pokemon Scarlet & Violet players of all sorts want to get themselves a six-IV Ditto to streamline the breeding process. They can do it, but it’s not necessarily going to be easy.
Ditto has always been an important Pokemon due to its ability to breed with almost any Pokemon. That usefulness remains in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet. Though changes to Hyper Training make breeding less important in the game, players still get a lot of value out of obtaining a six-IV Ditto.

Players can get one legally, but it may take a lot of grinding and will definitely take a lot of luck. The struggle will still likely be worth it for players who want to put together a stable of the best possible Pokemon.
Can You Get a Six-IV Ditto in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet players can get a six-IV Ditto from Tera Raid battles, but only if they’re very lucky. This stems from how IV distributions work for Pokemon caught in Tera Raids.
Pokemon caught in Tera Raid battles can have guaranteed perfect IVs, with the number of perfect IVs varying based on the difficulty of the raid. The best opportunity to get a six-IV Ditto comes from six-star Tera Raid battles, which can be unlocked in the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet post-game.
Pokemon caught in six-star raids are guaranteed to have five perfect IVs with their sixth stat being a random IV between 0 and 31. This means that Pokemon caught from a six-star raid have a one-in-32 chance of having perfect IVs. While this might make it sound easy to get a six-IV Ditto, the real trouble is actually finding six-star Ditto raids.
Players only have access to one six-star Tera Raid den each day and there are 70 different Pokemon that can appear in six-star raids. This means six-star Ditto raids are hard to come by, and matchmaking with the Poke Portal is terribly unreliable. A five-star Ditto raid offers considerably worse odds for getting a six-IV Ditto, with that one-in-32 chance becoming one-in-1,024 as Pokemon caught in five-star raids only have four guaranteed perfect IVs.
Outside of trading a friend for a perfect Ditto, the only real option for getting one is to seek out six-star Ditto raids and hope for the best. Players can look at the Poke Portal to try and find raids with other players or they can manipulate the clock in their Nintendo Switch settings in order to forcibly reset their six-star raid for the day. It still requires a great deal of luck to get a six-star Ditto, however.
The best option is to simply settle on a five-IV Ditto. There are very few Pokemon that benefit from having completely perfect IVs, with most able to sacrifice either their Attack or Sp. Attack stat. Those that do can ultimately get the same effect by simply Hyper Training their Pokemon’s last stat.
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are available now on Nintendo Switch.
