Where Can I Get Stone of Chaos?
There are 4 sources you can get Stone of Chaos from:
- Valtan Gate 2 (Hard)
You get one Stone of Chaos for clearing Valtan Gate 2 on Hard. One additional Stone of Chaos can be obtained from the reward chest in Gate 2. - World Boss Thunderwings
Thunderwings in South Vern drops Stone of Chaos. It seems to have a very high drop chance but it is not a guaranteed drop. - Endless Chaos Dungeon
You can buy Stone of Chaos for 2,000 Shard of Purification at the [Exchange Chaos Dungeon Shard] Vendor. The NPC is standing right next to each Chaos Dungeon entrance.
The price increases for each purchase and resets at the weekly reset back to 2,000 Shard of Purification. Your character needs to be 1445 to buy this. Visit our Endless Chaos Dungeon Calculator to learn more about Endless Chaos Dungeons. - Legion Raid Exchange
You can buy Stone of Chaos from Collector Jorba, the Legion Raid Exchange Vendor in Punika for Gold. The price starts at 500 Gold and your character needs to be 1445 to buy this.
Stone of Chaos Uses
Stone of Chaos has two very important uses for relic gear: crafting relic gear pieces and increasing their quality.
- Crafting Relic Sets
To craft relic set pieces you need the relic crafting materials Demonic Beast’s Bone (from Valtan) or Covetous Wing (from Vykas) and additionally one Stone of Chaos for armor pieces and three Stone of Chaos for a weapon.

With legendary gear from Argos and Oreha, we were crafting pieces over and over again until we got a “good enough” quality roll. For relic gear, this is different. Here you craft each piece only once and then you’ll use Stone of Chaos to increase the quality of your relic gear.
How To Increase The Quality Of Relic Gear
Visit the [Quality Upgrade] NPC right next to the [Transfer Skill Tree] NPC in Nia Village in Punika (the one where you transfer your Tripods / Skill Trees).
For each attempt to increase the quality you get a random quality. If the quality is lower than what you had before, the attempt fails so you do not lose any quality.
The chances to increase the quality decrease significantly the better your existing quality is. Here is a nice pie chart of the probabilities:
For Relic Gear, Armor pieces with 50 or higher are already good enough. Weapons should be a bit higher. A quality of 70+ is something to aim for. Increasing your quality any further should be seen as a long-long-term goal.
Increasing the quality above 80 is considered “whale bait” by many players. Stone of Chaoses are expensive and you’d need a lot of them in an average luck scenario, as hitting 80% or above has only a chance of 1.78%.
