General Information[]

Innovation Inc. is a British-based sci-fi building group owned by madattak and co-owned by Rolijok. It is currently the largest of its kind on ROBLOX.

Innovation Inc. (often colloquially referred to as just "Innovation") was one of the first Sci-Fi building groups on ROBLOX, being founded by madattak during the early days of ROBLOX. Similarly to other groups of the same nature, Innovation takes heavy inspiration from the popular videogame series Half-Life and Portal, both published by Valve Software.

Madattak has also mentioned that he drew inspiration from the group Pinewood Builders; founded by Diddleshot. This group was the largest group of its kind, although Innovation has now surpassed it in member count. The popularity of Innovation has steadily grown over time, with its growth being accelerated by the mentions in various ROBLOX blog posts such as "Six Amazing Sci-Fi Themed Environments" and BLOXcast. More notably, games under the umbrella of Innovation Inc. have been featured in several ROBLOX Events, such as 'Return of the Badger, Badger, Badger Gift' badge hunt (2014), Jurassic World (2015), Egg Hunt 2019, and Metaverse Champions (2021).

History[]

Inception, 2011-2013[]

The concept of Innovation Incorporated emerged from Madattak as a moniker to sell his ROBLOX models under, until the introduction of Groups on the ROBLOX website. With the creation of the group, a user by the name of Clone90 offered to create what would essentially become the iconic original logo. From then on, the group's first game was "ROBLOX FASTEST TRAIN!" created in 2010. Two more games, the Original Innovation HQ and Innovation Rocket Silo followed in 2011, with one other game additionally being developed that would end up being Innovation's most notable entry for many years. Innovation Research Labs was incepted as a car testing game in 2011, but was then renamed to the "Innovation Research Center", and transformed into a small research facility in 2012 — Until finally being redesigned in 2013, to become the game that would propel Innovation to become one of the largest (and eventually the biggest) Sci-Fi building groups on Roblox.

2014, Golden Era[]

In 2014, propelled by the success of the Labs as well as the group in general, Innovation Inc. entered an era within which it was consistently being used as a setting for many fan-made projects. During this phase, many unofficial sub-groups (groups made by members that are intended to function as unofficial "divisions" of the group), spin-offs and fan-games were created with the intention of (unofficially) expanding the world surrounding the group.

To attempt to accelerate development of new games, madattak employed a tactic whereby adverts would be placed within the Research Labs calling upon users to join and become developers for the group. These users would work together on projects, with this technique for development being christened Group Builds by madattak. However due to a lack of proper organisation (as well as some of these recruited developers not possessing adequate development expertise) only one game came out of this process; Innovation HQ. More games such as Innovation Community Centre and Innovation Mars Expedition were planned, however these were swiftly cancelled (it is highly likely that additional cancelled projects existed, however these have been lost to time), with Rolijok publicly stating on the official discord server that he didn't like how the Group Builds turned out.

Also around this time, the first and only official map of the Innovation complex was produced, with Innovation being placed within a fictional desert named "Generico". This map featured many facilities and landmarks that had not been built or even heard of, including the Underwater Research Facility, Primary Airfield, Coolant Storage and Power Mining Facility. Although this map showed members the overall layout of the Innovation complex, very little is still known about its geographical whereabouts. Some old members state that the location was specified by Rolijok on the Innovation Security group wall in 2014, but this remains unconfirmed to this day. Some speculate the complex is in West Australia, due to the proximity of the Innovation HQ to the sea.

One further thing Innovation did to expand was to introduce official sub-groups, these being Innovation Security, Innovation Intelligence Agency, Innovation Executives, Innovation Officer Academy and Innovation Security Elites. Although most have been abandoned or became inactive: Groups surrounding Innovation Security have received ongoing support by their owners to this day. Innovation has also supported fan-games since 2013. The first of these fan-games to be declared official by the Innovation Executives was Innovation Inc. Space Center.

2015-2016[]

By 2015, Innovation's era of rapid growth had began to slow down, with madattak and Rolijok mainly focusing on updates for the Research Labs - As well as creating overhauls of their two headquarters, those being the third iteration of the Innovation Headquarters and the newly created Innovation Security HQ. However, only the revamped Security Headquarters would end up seeing the light day, whilst the third iteration of the Headquarters would unfortunately end up being silently cancelled.

2017[]

The year 2017 marked the release of the Innovation Arctic Base which was considered the spiritual successor of Innovation Research Labs. However, a fan-made game published by Festivereinhard2, the Innovation Inc. Spaceship, exploded into popularity. It is currently the most popular officialized Innovation fan-game, as well as (as of 2023) the most popular Innovation game overall, beating out all other Innovation games by a sizeable margin, as well as some games from other groups.

2020[]

Most likely fueled by the Quarantine due to COVID-19 Pandemic, Innovation saw one of its largest surges of newly created fan-made content in 2020 - With new fan-projects emerging such as the Innovation Inc. Thermal Power Plant (which would become official in 2024), remakes of both the Innovation Inc. Transport Hub and the Old Innovation HQ, and many more related projects appearing.

In addition to the fan-made content, the Innovation Security HQ received an update (albeit amid some controversy), and two new official games were announced by Rolijok: a new Innovation Mars Base and an official remake of the Innovation Research Labs. Furthermore, in late 2020, ROBLOX developer TheNexusAvenger released a remake of his Innovation Boeing 747 project.

Ranks & Promotion[]

Since Innovation Incorporated's major focus is in ROBLOX Game-Development, developers who want to receive a higher role need to have an understanding of ROBLOX Studio. The ranks of this group are split into the following three categories:

Builder L1 - L4: Developers who specialize into maps or asset creation.

Researcher L1 - 3: Developers who specialize in scripting and coding in the LUA Programming Language.

Promoters, Business Manager, Vice Chairman, Chairman: Users who care considered important towards the group, and contributed substantially towards the group.

Some ranks, although not listed properly in the Groups Rank List, are considered more prestige than others. For instance, the ranks of Builder L4 & L5 are higher than Researcher L1.

Builder L5 - Expert	This is the highest building rank in the group and is reserved for people that are experts of their craft.	This role is similar to Builder L4, however if the map they showcased is extremely impressive or the creator used other methods of building such as Blender. Researcher L1	This rank is given to people who haven't promoted based on their building skills but on their skills of coding on the programming language of Lua.	It is given to people have spent some time and effort acquainting themselves with basic scripting principles. Whoever is interested in starting to make actual interactable games out of their showcases. Popular Examples: Color Changing Objects, Moving/Animated structures, Interactable Machines, Player Manipulation, Fully-Scripted Events.From this point moving forward, the ranks below can only be obtained via contacting the Chairmen.	29
Researcher L2	This rank is given to users who are considered decent at coding with Lua.	This rank is given out to people who have a good understanding of coding and can make their games more interactable.	12
Researcher L3	This is the highest level researcher rank of the group. This rank is usually reserved for professional ROBLOX Developers.	This rank is given to some of the best coders on Roblox. People who can make scripts that can do complex things, while keeping them optimized.	9
