Part 3. FAQ on deregistering kindle
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What happens when I deregister the Kindle?
A: When you deregister a kindle device, it removes the device from your Amazon account as well as the kindle content that was downloaded to this kindle. This means that the kindle ebooks related to your Amazon account will be deleted. But these books will still be available in your kindle account on Amazon website.
Q: Does deregistering a kindle remove content?
A: Yes, it does remove the kindle content that linked to your Amazon account. If you have sideloaded ebooks, they will still be there on your kindle devices which will not be affected by the deregistering issue.
Q: Can I re-register a deregistered kindle device?
A: As long as this kindle isn't flagged as lost or stolen, you can deregister it and register on your own Amazon account.
Q: How to change ownership of kindle device?
A: To change the ownership of kindle device, you will need to deregister it before handing it to its new owner. Then the next person can register this device with his own Amazon account.
Q: Can I deregister a kindle book from device?
A: Sure, you can just deregister a kindle book from the device. Go to "Manage Your Content and Devices" page, under "Content" tab, check the box before the book you'd like to remove and then click "Delete" button. Remember that this will delete this book permanently from your Amazon account. If you want to read this book again, you need to purchase it again. So be careful if you want to use this method.
Q: Can I use one kindle with 2 Amazon accounts?
A: Please note that a kindle only can be registered with one account at a time. You cannot use one kindle with 2 Amazon accounts at the same time. But once a kindle is deregistered from one account it can be registered with another account.
Q: I have bought books under different amazon accounts. Can I just consolidate the book to one account?
A: Officially there is no way to do so. But if your two Amazon accounts are in the same marketplace, try to talk to the Amazon customer support to see if they can help with this.

Hello, thanks for our comment. Any time you do a deregister, all your personal data - books, apps, progress, documents ... may be removed. I suggest that you can back them up prior to de-registering your account! Best regards,
