There is no cost to Hosts for them to be insured under the HLI program. The HLI program does not insure Hosts for damage or loss to their own property or Accommodation. For damage to a Host's property, learn about Airbnb's Host damage protection program.

As an Airbnb host, it's essential to understand that standard homeowners insurance might not fully cover your needs when renting out your property. Short-term rental insurance, often referred to as Airbnb insurance, is designed specifically for properties listed on platforms like Airbnb.

Host liability insurance covers you if you're found legally responsible for: Bodily injury to a guest (or others) Damage to or theft of property belonging to a guest (or others) Damage caused by a guest (or others) to common areas, like building lobbies and nearby properties.

Host liability protection covers claims made against you by guests, while host damage protection pays for damage to your property caused by guests. Additionally, your existing renters or homeowners insurance might also protect your property from damage related to Airbnb or other home-sharing services.

Airbnb offers up to $1 million of its own coverage per rental, but there are coverage restrictions. Some specialty policies exist to help insure against the unique risks posed by short-term rentals. Be sure to review your local laws since some states may require additional liability insurance for short-term rentals.

Host damage protection, part of AirCover for Hosts, reimburses Hosts up to $3 million in the rare event your place or belongings are damaged by a guest during an Airbnb stay. You're reimbursed for certain damage caused by guests to your home and belongings if the guest does not pay for the damage.

Can You Sue an Airbnb Host or the Company Itself? The home rental company Airbnb does not cover lawsuits from hosts or guests. Hosts and guests should be aware they are responsible for any potential legal issues that occur as a result of their actions while using Airbnb's platform.

Actions we take may include providing information to Hosts about this policy and issuing warnings. When repeated or severe violations of these ground rules are reported, Hosts or their listings may be suspended or removed from the platform.

In the event the Responsible Guest fails to pay the amount requested for the loss or damage to your Eligible Property pursuant to the Responsible Guest's obligations under the Terms, you may make a reimbursem*nt request to Airbnb under Host Damage Protection by submitting a Host Damage Protection Payment Request Form.
