What does a host do?
As a host, you offer accommodation, meals, guidance, cultural exchange, and emotional support to international students, ensuring their overseas learning experience is safe, enjoyable, and enriching. Read more about becoming an EF host family here.
How can I become a host family?
The first step is to sign up, we will then get in touch with you, complete a home visit and get you certified. Sign up here.
What payment do I get as a host?
All of our host families receive monetary compensation for hosting an EF student. This sum is meant to support your family in the weekly costs of hosting a student. Read more about our payment here.
I am not a "traditional" family, is it still possible to host?
Of course! Our hosts come in all shapes and sizes and we welcome such diverse families as single parent households, empty-nesters, and families with small children. Read more about our matching process here.
May I host more than one student at a time?
Yes, you can host up to four students in your home, with a maximum of two sharing a room. For some of our junior destinations, hosting up to 3 in a room is possible. Read more about our matching process here.
Where can I host international students in the UK?

What kind of support do you offer?
The EF UK team will support you throughout your hosting journey, from student selection to adaptation guidance, connecting with local host families, and arranging optional excursions. Read more about host family support here.
What are my responsibilities as a host family?
