Notice an unexpected transaction on your Cash Card or have an issue with a transaction you do recognize? Let us know so we can assist you.

The quickest way to resolve an unrecognized transaction, or an issue with a transaction you do recognize is by contacting the merchant directly. If they’re unable to help you out, we’re here to help.

If you have a transaction you want to dispute, the transaction must be completed. If your card transaction is still pending, the merchant is best positioned to help you resolve the issue with the transaction.

Once your transaction settles, you may be able to file a dispute.

What is a Pending Transaction?

When you make a purchase with your Cash Card, funds are removed from your account before being captured by the merchant. Transactions in this stage are unable to be disputed. Pending transactions are typically captured within 10 business days. Pending transactions may initially be authorized for a different amount than the final payment amount. How do I File a Dispute?

If you’ve already contacted the merchant and are unable to resolve a transaction, you may be able to file a dispute. To file a dispute for a Cash Card transaction, you will need to select the transaction in Cash App. To do so:

  1. Tap the Activity tab on your Cash App home screen
  2. Select the transaction in question and tap the … in the top right corner of the screen
  3. Select Need Help & Cash App Support
  4. Tap Dispute this Transaction

What does reporting my Cash Card Lost/Stolen do?

If you report your Cash Card as lost or stolen, your current Cash Card will no longer be valid and you will be prompted to order a replacement.

Can I dispute a recurring subscription?

You can file a dispute for a recurring subscription, but you will need to confirm with the merchant that the subscription has been cancelled.

What happens after I dispute a charge?

Our team will investigate your claim and may be able to file a dispute with the card network. The merchant will be given time to review the transaction. After gathering the facts, the card network will make a final decision and you will be notified of the final decision of the dispute.

How do I check the status of a dispute?

We will notify you of updates throughout the process of your dispute via email.

To cancel a dispute, contact support who will assist you throughout the process.

What transactions can be disputed?

When the outcome of a transaction was not as expected, such as when a merchant charges you the wrong amount or it is a duplicate transaction, you may be able to file a dispute.

Fraudulent transactions can also be disputed. A fraudulent transaction is one that you did not participate in. This can occur if your account is compromised, or your Cash Card has been lost or stolen. It’s a great idea to regularly review your transactions so that you can quickly identify if anything is out of the ordinary.
