The Royal Canadian Mint has unveiled a brand new five-dollar coin featuring florals and a hexagonal holographic honeybee.
The 2023 $5 Fine Silver Coin — Filigree Bee incorporated vibrant colours and a holographic gold feature in order to "see the world through a bee's eyes," the Royal Canadian Mint said on its website.
The reverse of the new Canadian coin is a honeycomb-like design with silver bees and flowers. In the centre, coin collectors will be able to revel over the gold hexagonal honeybee enamel, which gives off a "beeswax" look. The golden enamel design, which is applied by hand, features a bee collecting pollen from a flower.

As for the obverse of the new coin, holographic flowers and stars surround the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Susanna Blunt. In addition to the former monarch's photo, the coin also includes her name, the date of production and "Soloman Islands" written above the late queen.
Although the face value of the new Canadian coin is, in fact, five dollars, it will cost you more to get your hands on it. The new Canadian coin can be purchased on the Royal Canadian Mint's website for $269.95.
When purchased, the coin arrives in premium gold packaging with an acrylic lid and a sleeve that pulls out; revealing the new $5 coin.
