This quest begins in Upper Hogsfield in Hogsmeade Valley Region, so speak to Dorothy Sprottle and ask her about what you overheard her talking about. She'll task you with finding her friend's brother, who she saw in the woods practicing dark magic.
Fly up to the ruined area Dorothy mentioned, near the North Ford Bog floo, to find him. He's been turned into an Inferi, so take him out with Fire magic.
After the deed is done, talk to Claire Beaumont in Upper Hogsfield and you can tell her the truth, or make up a more positive spin on what happened

Your reward for the quest is the Arrow - Black Wand Handle.
