Hello and welcome to our page about our app. Unfortunately, the BBC Learning English app closed on 13thDecember 2023. Since that date, the app has no longer worked, and you will not be able to access any of the programmes in the app or any programmes that you have downloaded.

Don’t worry, though. You still have many different ways that you can learn English with BBC Learning English and with your favourite BBC Learning English presenters.

Obviously, you can study here with us on our website. But you know that, right? You are here on our website right now! You’ll continue to be able to watch and listen to your old favourites like 6 Minute English and News Review. But, did you know, we also have a whole range of new materials being created for you for launch in early 2024?
New content for 2024 (secret announcements!!!)
Look out for our new Business English series, Office English, on the language you need to communicate effectively in the office. Check out our super-short, super-fun videos, Tenses With Georgie,that help you understand and improve your grammar. We’re also launching a new series to answer your questions about English. We also have a beginner-level 10-part drama and a series of short videos teaching 200 important words for learners with little or no English. But that’s not all, later in the year we will also be launching our new series to help you learn English through songs.
And all of that will be available first on our website 😊!

1. Why has the BBC closed the app?
The BBC has taken the decision to close the app to simplify and improve its offer to its audiences. We are sorry if this is disappointing news.
2. Can I still access the app even when it is closed down?
The app will still be on your phone but if you open it, it will not work and you will not see any content or be able to access any programmes that you have downloaded. If you do not want the app on your phone anymore, you will need to manually uninstall it.
