Losing a job can be a big adjustment. Sometimes you are prepared for it but usually it blindsides you. Don’t panic, there are ways to make money while in between jobs so that you can still pay the bills while you are looking for your next job opportunity.

I like these ideas for making money while in between jobs, because they are things that you can do on your own time. Choose what interests you and what will work for your schedule.
You will probably be planning on doing a lot of job interviews so these are things that you can schedule around those.
Who knows, you may end up liking the new way you are making money and want to actually make a career out of it. It is possible with some hard work and determination. There are a lot of people who have done it.
Virtual Assistant
I like the idea of being a Virtual Assistant because you can work from anywhere. You do need to have knowledge of basic computer skills and social media.
A Virtual Assistant is someone who takes on tasks that companies, small businesses, and bloggers want to outsource. This can include doing administrative work, handling social media, doing research, or creating images.
Gina Horkey has made a very successful living as a freelancer and virtual assistant. She even posts her income reports so that you can see just how much money she is making. In August, 2016 she made $22,000 in one month! She knows what she is doing!
She does offer a Free VA Course that you can sign up for. It is 5 lessons that can really jump start your career. This is a great chance to see if this is something that is right for you.
Freelancer
If you are creative and like writing, you may want to look into becoming a freelancer. You find publications and write articles for them. You are an expert in something, you just have to find your niche.

Start a Blog
I will be honest and say that starting a blog is not for everyone. There are so many things I wish I knew before I started a blog.
It does take time and a lot of hard work to start making a decent income off of your blog but it is possible. I made almost $4,000 last month just off of my blog!
You can start a blog very easily and inexpensively. My hosting site offers a deal for only $3.95/month!
You may not be making thousands your first few months but it is a great way to work with brands and companies. A lot of companies will offer free product in exchange for a review on your blog. This can be a way for you to be able to get things for your home that you may not be able to afford while in between jobs.
Ruth Soukup, the creator of Elite Blog Academy, actually has some free training videos that she is offering from EBA 2.0. You can sign up for that free training to get some great tips on how to get your blog started.
Online Seller
One of the ways I make money, besides from my blog, is being an online seller. I am an Amazon FBA Seller and I make about $50/hr doing this only a few hours a week.
This is really great for people who like to hunt for bargains or coupon. Also, for people that like going to thrift stores and finding great deals.
You don’t need a lot of money to get started, I started out with just a couple hundred dollars to invest and I’m now profiting on average $500 a month.
People like Jessica Larrew have made this a full time job and make 6 figures a year!She offers a free 7 day email course that tells you everything you need to know to start selling on Amazon today. She has some really great tips.
Teaching on Skillshare
Everyone has a skill, right? You are an expert in something and you can share that with the world. You can actually make money on Skillshare by doing just that.
Skillshare is a huge online platform that offers classes on a wide variety of topics to over 2 million students. They have video classes on: business, technology, social media, music, fashion, crafts, culinary, and the list goes on. There is literally a video on every topic you can think of.
They offer free classes as well as a paid membership. You can actually score your first month to Skillshare for free! It’s a great way to check out what they have to offer and to see what you could potentially create a class on.
Taskrabbit
People are busy and they don’t have the time to get everything done. You can sign up to work for Taskrabbit and help people do their everyday tasks.
People hire you to do things like running errands, putting together furniture, walking the dog, cleaning the house, handy man work, etc.
All of the Taskers are given background checks and have ratings so people can see who they want to hire. You choose the jobs you want to do and pick your own schedule.
It’s a great way to earn some extra income.
Drive with Uber or Lyft
If you like driving and meeting new people, you might want to consider becoming a driver for Uber or Lyft. You decide how little or how much you want to work and how much you earn is up to you.
All you need is a car and a smartphone to get started. You get 24/7 driver support and insurance coverage. And all riders are verified with their credit card and phone number, so you’ll know who you’re picking up.

Caregiver
If you like spending time with others and enjoy helping people, you might want to look into babysitting or care giving. You can even make money pet sitting!
Care.com is a great place to start looking for jobs. You create an account and upload a photo, references, and undergo a background check. You can then start applying for jobs like: babysitting, care giving, tutoring, pet sitting, house cleaning, dog walking, and more.
I really hope that these ideas have given you a place to start looking to make money while in between jobs. I know that it can be difficult but there are ways to make it through.
