Apex Legends Reveals Mid-Season Patch Notes
Apex Legends Map Tier List
New World: Aeternum Announces Open Beta Details and Rewards
It’s one thing to gather a lot of information and another thing to know how to use them, and it’s this rather tricky middle spot where Seer of Apex Legends loves to tread. Aside from his keen sense of style, Seer specializes in gathering intel about his opponents and giving them to his team, theoretically securing the advantage in terms of just how much they know about their foes and how easily they can use this to outpace and outgun them in encounters. However, fans who aren’t used to Seer’s capabilities in Apex Legends can feel overwhelmed with the amount of information he can get at any given moment.

Considered more of an amalgamation between Crypto and Bloodhound’s respective kits, Seer is one of the most complicated Legends to use in the game. However, fans who start to understand what each of his skills do and what kind of skill ceiling they demand, players curious about Seer may be able to transform him into one of the deadliest Legends in any match.
Seer: Representative Of The Unique
Before Obi Edolasim was born, it was foretold that he would bring great pain to the world. And for a while people thought it was true, especially when a meteor struck the moon of his home planet Boreas. It was thanks to the love of his parents that Obi was raised as someone unafraid to express his self and his inner creativity, qualities that eventually brought him to the Apex Games that allowed him to express himself through its theatric appeal.
While Obi - now Seer - faced unsure crowds, each of his victories was done with such a flair and approach to style that people began seeing his uniqueness and eventual confidence. Although other people still see Seer as a bringer of bad omens, more and more people have started to admire Seer in his efforts to represent the shunned, the unaccepted, and the original.
Why Use Seer: Everyone Is Tracked
Fans curious about a character who specializes in tracking might want to consider Seer for their Apex Legends gameplay. Considering how fast-paced the battle royale wants its combat to become, Apex Legends players are encouraged to stay on top of possible encounters with enemy teams. Thanks to Seer, squads have a chance of getting more information about opponents even in the thick of combat, making him an ideal surveillance Legend for players who love collecting data about their battles. When players think of using Seer, they need to realize his potential in the following departments:
- Careful hunting: Players who want a more straightforward tracking experience versus Bloodhound’s kit might appreciate Seer for his information-oriented hunting. While sharing similar kits, Seer’s has bonuses such as providing enemy intel and even temporarily silencing them, making Seer just as aggressive but with enough data to make him approach combat more carefully.
- Consistently track throughout the match: While it’s true that using Seer’s abilities will give the position of the team away to enemies, the data-gathering bonuses of his kit compensates for this setback. Even when Seer’s opponents track him down, his kit provides more than enough information to tell Seer’s team where they’re coming from and even basic stats such as Health and Shields.
- Punish quick movers: A high-stakes battle royale like Apex Legends with abilities is bound to go crazy in terms of combat speed, meaning most players only survive if they adapt quick enough to situations. Seer’s kit is built precisely to counter such situations, with his Tactical providing a short silence and his Ultimate tracking everyone who’s moving quickly.
The Basics Of Seer: Detection Extraordinaire
Seer’s arrival in Apex Legends gameplay definitely shook up the meta, especially for trackers. Given the added bonus of gathering data whenever he scans areas, Seer has essentially become a faster-paced version of Crypto, with the added bonus of getting more information about opponents versus Bloodhound’s more direct tracking with Apex Legends SMGs. However, the need of players to process more information as Seer can make using him rather overwhelming, requiring gamers to adjust to his data-gathering skills much faster. Here is a quick runthrough on Seer’s kit:
- Heart Seeker (Passive): Thanks to this skill, Seer gets an improved HUD when using his weapons. A special icon will hint whether Seer may be aiming at an opponent, with a directional arrow indicating the opponent’s direction as well as a special heartbeat sound.
- Focus Of Attention (Tactical): With this skill, Seer can summon his micro-drones to release a blast that goes through walls that not only interrupts enemies but also reveals them.
- Exhibit (Ultimate): Thanks to this ability, Seer becomes the ultimate tracker. He unleashes a sphere of micro-drones that affect every enemy in his general area, giving their location to both Seer and his peers.
Passive: Heart Seeker
Seer has an eye for talent, which is something his Heart Seeker (Passive) represents. With this ability, Seer always gets a special “icon” whenever he uses ADS. This circle mode transforms into an arrow with accompanying heartbeat sounds whenever an enemy is within Seer’s general line of sight within ADS. This makes the Heart Seeker a deadly companion to Apex Legends LMGs due to its firepower combined with the Passive’s tracking assist.

- Properties: Heart Seeker takes the form of a 55-degree cone in front of Seer that extends to 75 meters. This circle reveals an orange arrow if an enemy enters the conical area in front of Seer, with the same arrow pointing at the general direction of the enemy.
- Take note of changes: Heart Seeker changes in appearance and properties depending on the kind of opponent that enters its range. For instance, an enemy in sight and within the 75-meter range forces the orange arrow to become blue. Enemies behind walls within that cone still gives Seer their heartbeats. Likewise, enemies give faster heartbeats with the less health they have.
Tactical: Focus Of Attention
One of Seer’s most stellar abilities, his Focus of Attention (Tactical) allows him to “scan” an area much like Bloodhound. Instead of a cone, however, Seer summons micro-drones to affect a cylinder that “hits” enemies inside. This not only reveals enemies but also forces a temporary silence to them, where the revelation comes with a brief interruption in all skills - allowing Seer to kill opponents even with Apex Legends Pistols.
- Properties: After 1.4 seconds within its activation, the ability reveals enemies inside a cylinder (8-meter in diameter, 75 meters long). Its silence lasts for 1.25 seconds, while its detection lasts for 8 seconds. This has a cooldown of 30 seconds.
- Deadly interruption: At its core, Focus of Attention is not just useful for revealing enemies, it can disrupt the flow of battle on part of the enemies. Al channeled actions (healing, revives) are interrupted, while the 1.25-second silence will not only cancel in-progress abilities but also prevents the usage of skills in that duration. As per usual, enemies who get detected will be informed on their HUD.
- Note the limitations: Seer’s Tactical isn’t an all-penetrating revealer, however. It can still count Mirage decoys as the real deal, with “fake” health bars above their heads. Likewise, it can’t reveal the real Crypto’s location when using his Surveillance Drone, while Lifeline’s D.O.C. Heal Drone won’t cancel revives. The 1.4-second delay before the scan also gives enemies time to run.
Ultimate: Exhibit
When Seer activates Exhibit (Ultimate), he releases a sphere of micro-drones in his vicinity that acts like Focus of Attention (Tactical) but amped up to eleven. Enemies who move quickly or do things such as firing their weapons will be revealed to Seer and his allies, making their pursuit of prey much easier in the battlefield. In turn, Seer’s Apex Legends teammates can chase opponents much faster and without much worries.
- Properties: When using this skill, Seer creates a 65-meter sphere with a special device that has 125 HP. Enemies who are doing fast actions such as walking and sprinting, as well as firing weapons are “tracked” and are revealed to Seer and his team’s HUDs. This ability has a 3-minute cooldown.
- Silence is the enemy: While Exhibit is an extremely potent Ultimate, there are ways of bypassing Seer’s all-seeing eye. At its core, enemies who stay still, are airborne, or are crouching can’t be detected by Exhibit, allowing the likes of Revenant and Octane to outpace Seer as they can move fast while crouched.
Seer Gameplay: Think Fast, Shoot Faster
Players interested in investing their Apex Legends gameplay sessions with Seer should take note of how heavily reliant this character is to their detection capabilities. Given how he gets actionable intel much faster than Crypto and with a bigger area than Bloodhound, Seer players need to pay extra attention to how fast they acquire data and how soon they engage foes they detect. Common tips when using Seer and his Apex Legends skillsinclude:

- Scan during pursuits, not to start them whenever possible: Thanks to Seer’s Heart Seeker (Passive), he always has a way of spotting enemies even if he doesn’t use the rest of his kit. This is an ideal way of gauging whether opponents are worth pursuing or not, and only then should Seer use the rest of his skills. Considering how Seer’s kit effectively reveals the team when used, Seer may as well only start using his toolkit when the team is committed to engage the enemy.
- Use abilities to make informed decisions: Seer players are advised to use his detection kit whenever they feel their enemies are weak, so they can decide to whether pursue or simply run away. The fast activation of his skills allows Seer to make split-second decisions on whether to continue the fight or reposition - and either way, enemies are discouraged to pursue due to the temporary silence or constant detection.
- Time the use of abilities with scans: Some Seer abilities can be delayed (Focus of Attention) before others (Heart Seeker) are made usable. His toolkit is designed to help Seer facilitate caution, allowing him to get quick scans and see whether extended actions such as revives and Phoenix Kit usage are safe in an area.
Recon Class: Supreme Surveillance
Fans who love Seer for his tracking supremacy can feel a bit more powerful now that his classification as part of the Recon Class gets an upgrade for Season 16: Revelry. In the February 2023 update, Seer’s abilities as a surveillance specialist became even more specialized with the more combat-oriented benefits given to members of the Recon Class. Under this updated Class, Seer can now:
- Use Modified Survey Beacons: Compared to the original iteration of the game, Survey Beacons get an update in Season 16: Revelry. When Seer uses this Survey Beacon, he can now see all enemy positions on the Map and Mini-Map for 30-seconds, with enemies in the immediate vicinity getting notified of the scan. This gives Seer an extra time to charge his tracking skills while getting an idea where his immediate enemies are located, giving his team room to either ambush enemies or get to a safer vantage point.
Loadout Recommendations
With a toolkit that makes Seer look like a slower Bloodhound from Apex Legends, fans using this Recon Legend may use similar weapon choices for immediate encounters. However, given how Seer has a wider visual range for his abilities, players using him may want to consider equipping him with Apex Legends weapons like Assault Rifles that help him adjust to the directions of enemies he can spot at any given moment. Here are some weapons to choose for Seer:
- G7 Scout (Marksman Rifle, Light Ammo): Given Seer’s detection capabilities, the sniper role is quite suitable for his toolkit. Instead of using a sniper rifle outright, however, Seer might want to consider getting the G7 Scout. Not only would the right optic transform this weapon into a deadly sniper, using the Double Tap Trigger Hop-Up allows players to fire two (2) shots consecutively, transforming this weapon into either a fast-shooting sniper or a long-ranged shotgun.
- Charge Rifle (Sniper Rifle): Unlike other snipers, the Charge Rifle is a sustained laser, meaning its damage stacks as soon as its charge starts releasing followed up by a final damaging blast. This delay might give enemies enough time to run away, but timing this properly can help Seer aim at opponents and still hit them while running. Its makeshift “alternate” function also works for Seer up close, as the Charge Rifle’s hipfire mechanic gives Seer a laser shotgun when timed properly.
- Nemesis Burst (Assault Rifle, Energy Ammo): Similar to its Havoc counterpart, the Nemesis Burst also needs a bit of charging before starting to shoot its bullets. However, this weapon is a burst rifle, and fires a four-round burst as long as the trigger is held. This delay cannot be circumvented by the Turbocharger, but it’s advantageous given Seer’s toolkit. The short delay prior to firing is more than enough time for Seer to decide whether to continue fighting or to book it without giving away his team’s position.
Apex Legends is currently playable in the PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and the Nintendo Switch.
