Does my credit card cover RV rental insurance? ›

Your credit card car insurance benefits won't cover an RV rental.

Amex cards come with secondary rental car insurance, meaning you must first file a claim with your personal insurance company if your rental car is damaged or stolen. That said, primary coverage is available for an added cost with Amex premium rental car insurance.

The difference between a CDW and an LDW is that a collision damage waiver (CDW) only covers you for damage done to a rental car in a crash, while a loss damage waiver (LDW) also provides theft protection in case the car is stolen.

If a rental vehicle you've charged to your Card is damaged or stolen, file a claim as soon as possible online or by calling 1-800-338-1670. Provide copies of your rental car agreement, insurance information, repair bills, and police or incident reports. We'll review your claim, which typically takes about 45 days.
