Air Fryer Baked Potatoes are a great side dish with olive oil rubbed potatoes cooked in an air fryer with some sea salt and ground pepper.
I love cooking with my air fryer! It has become one of my kitchen essentials. It provides easy clean up, simple cooking and just less effort to cook some really amazing dishes. Check out the Air Fryer Garlic Parmesan Asparagus for another simple side dish idea that will be on repeat in your home.
Air Fryer Potatoes
Air Fryer Baked Potatoes have this amazing crispy outside and the insides are soft and fluffy. My husband typically won’t eat the skin of a baked potato but he eats the WHOLE potato when cooked with this method. Proof it’s delicious in my book.

Description
Air Fryer Baked Potatoes are a great side dish with olive oil rubbed potatoes cooked in an air fryer with some sea salt and ground pepper.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 Russet potatoes
- olive oil
- sea salt
- ground pepper
Instructions
- Wash potatoes and pierce each one a few times with a fork.
- Lather each with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Place into Air fryer basket.
- Cook for about 50 minutes on 390 degrees. Please see notes.

Notes
Air fryer wattage varies per appliance so cook times can vary. Potato sizes will also vary. I recommend checking your potatoes after 45 minutes and they may need to cook up to one hour.

So happy to have found your recipe. I go by your instructions to the tee! Fantastic way to prepare baked potatoes. I use the sea salt truffle seasoning on the outside with olive oil rub. Fantastic. My husband loves to eat the skin and it’s great.

Do you hit the air fryer button or bake button
Amber
You must have a combo machine so since we are air frying, I am just assuming the air fryer button.

I want to try this recipe this weekend. Do you turn the potatoes at all during the cook time?
Reply
Amber
I just toss them in and leave them but if you have some overlapped a bit, turning them may be a good idea.

Instead of the sea salt, I use garlic salt to add a splash more of flavor.

How would you adjust the time to make one potato?
Reply
Amber
Just reduce the time by maybe 10 minutes and see how the potato is cooking and if it needs more time.

Its a Midea. I have used a few other air fryers but I do really like the basket in this particular one. It does hold a lot!

Can I layer them or do they have to all be on one level?
Reply
Amber
I have not trying layering them. I try and put them all on the same level.

There is a potato pierce rack that you can place the potatoes on while cooking. Makes cooking time less.
Thanks for the AF recipe. Much easier.★★★★

Have you experience the potato’s drying out at all? A friend of mine said I should wrap them in aluminum foil … but I wanted to ask you since it’s your recipe. I’m trying this for the first time … and excited! The 4 potato’s I have fill my air fryer lol.

I havent tried putting foil around them although when I put them in the crockpot, I do. The potatoes do get a nice crisp outside but if you dont like that, then the foil may help.

The idea of a crisp skin and soft fluffy insides sounds so appealing!

Quick Question: What setting do you use to ‘cook’ the potatoes. Airfryer rookie here and the only options I have are Roast, Airfry, and Dehydrate.

air fry

I am new to my air fryer. I’m sure this is a rookie question, but may I ask if you have your air fryer set on the air fryer function for these (and the garlic parmesan asparagus) or do you use the bake function?
Reply
Amber
I do not have those options on my air fryer. I would put the air fryer setting on though.

Patti
Are you able to use red or yellow gold potatoes also?
Reply
Amber
Yes, you can. They will need less time to cook. I would check them at 25 minutes and see how tender they are getting and add 5 or 10 minutes from there.

Oh cool! A friend just asked me, a couple of days ago, if I had ever baked potatoes, or could you even do such a thing, in my airfryer. I told I haven’t and didn’t know. This is and will be a game changer. Especially, on those hot Florida summer nights, when I don’t want to fire up the oven. Thank you so much for the recipe.

Ms. Ramakrishnan, I was the same way. Very skeptical about buying one. My parents and Aunt gifted me one, this past Christmas was a year ago. I love it.

I bake potatoes in our air fryer all the time, but I tend to just wash them and bung them in. Next time I’m going to try your olive and salt & pepper method. It sounds delicious.
