Highway Patrol offers tips during Bicycle Safety Month

Warmer weather encourages people to be more active outdoors. In the coming weeks, more and more bicycles will be sharing the road with motorists. May is Bicycle Safety Month, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol encourages motorists and bicyclists to stay alert and be courteous.
The Center for Human Services hosted its seventh annual Poker Run on Saturday, May 11. The weekend event attracted a significant number of participants, including CHS employees, local community riders, participants from the Liberty route, and numerous sponsors. Gourds: Swiss army knife of the plant world

Our ancestors couldn’t go to the hardware store or shopping mall to buy utensils and other household essentials. Instead, they improvised with items found in nature. The dried fruit of several members of the cucumber family proved useful for many purposes, said University of Missouri Extension horticulturist David Trinklein.

Commencement speech was ill-timed, exclusionary

I hate to use trite phrases such as “we sat in stunned silence,” but we sat in stunned silence. I had no idea that thousands of people could sit silently in a stadium. But that’s what happened on Dec. 25, 1971.
