I have the very same issue. Football tickets have need in my wallet for months and have now disappeared (future tickets) and not even in the "expired" which should be a given. they were not deleted either. all of the tickets were present on 10/15 which is the last time I used one. but now, disappeared. Adding them back may not be an option.

The pass in question is a boarding pass for the future so the event has not passed yet. The reason it’s so frustrating is because my wife has an iPhone and the same pass has stayed in her wallet since she put it in weeks ago. I also have an old iPhone and they have stayed in there so my frustration is why do they not stay in this iPhone 13???

Hello Wirybox,

Are the passes in question ones that are for timed events? For example: They're for a concert and then delete the next day after. Or are the items missing also things like rewards cards or long-term use boarding passes for transit.

We ask about this because, per Remove passes from Apple Wallet, "Some limited or single-use passes, such as boarding passes or event tickets, are automatically hidden after they expire." So you might be seeing that behavior. If so, these steps can help:

How to view, unhide, or delete expired passes on your iPhone

  1. In the Wallet app on your iPhone, scroll to the bottom and tap View Expired Passes.
  2. Tap a pass to view its details.
  3. Tap Unhide to return the pass to the main view of the Wallet app or tap Delete to remove it.

You can also tap Edit to unhide or delete multiple passes at once.

Thanks!

Thanks for your help but I don’t agree sorry as I’ve always closed my apps and so does my wife and my other iPhone also but by the next day they are gone on this phone only. I will try again without closing the app and see what happens by tomorrow

No, it will cause problems with other apps also, just not always as obvious. Killing an app is the app equivalent of turning off your computer with the power switch rather than using the Shutdown function. When an app is open it saves data in local RAM storage. When you go back to the Home screen it writes that data back to permanent storage before it goes to standby. But if you swipe the app up to kill it then it doesn’t have a chance to save transient data to storage. Programmers call this “kill -9”, or “terminate with extreme prejudice”.

In general, you should never shut down an app by swiping up on the quick launch screen, unless the app is malfunctioning. Not only does it risk losing transient data, counterintuitively it also slows down your phone and increases battery drain. Here’s the long explanation→Do not close "background" apps | Communities

As explained, it is because you force-closed the wallet before it could save the pass to permanent storage. And it will continue doing that as long as you force-close apps.

You don’t have to agree, but read the link I posted with supporting evidence from several senior people, including Apple’s VP of development. I currently have over 100 apps listed on my quick launch page; I have never closed them in the 15+ years I’ve been using iPhones, except when one doesn’t work correctly.

Are you in the habit of force-closing apps, specifically the Wallet app?

Just contacted Apple and they said this

You should close apps as long as you're not using them but this shouldn't be affecting you boarding pass issue with saving.
