what you can buy with your card
There is a range of things you can buy on a payment card. These include:
- food and grocery items
- public transport passes
- petrol
- pre-paid power cards
- education and training-related items, eg stationery
- healthcare-related items, eg medication
- clothing
- appliances, eg kettle
- household items, eg plates.
Their are also some things you can't buy, like:
- alcohol
- cigarettes, tobacco or vaping products
- gift cards or vouchers (except for phone top-ups)
- lotto tickets
- non-essential appliances or electronics (such as a gaming console).
how to use the card
Before you use it you'll set a PIN and sign the card.
The easiest way to set your PIN is in MyMSD. You'll need to:
- Log in toMyMSD
- Go to 'My payment cards'
- Select the card you want to add a PIN for
- Enter a 4-digit PIN, and re-enter it to confirm
- Done! Your PIN is now ready to go.
If you can't use MyMSD to set your PIN, thencall usand say "set my card PIN".
Once you've set up your card you'll be able to use it to buy the things you need at registered stores. To use your card you'll:
- At the checkout, swipe the payment card through the EFTPOS terminal.
- Select the CHQ option.
- Enter your personalised PIN.
- Sign your receipt – the shop staff will check this matches your signature on the back of your card.

You can check your card balance onMyMSD. You can also view all the transactions you've made.
If you have any questions about any balances or transactions on your payment card, talk to your youth coach.
find a store in your area
You can use your card at any store that is registered with MSD – but you can't spend more money than you have on your card, and you can only purchase items that have been approved.

Talk to your youth coach if there's a store or business in your area that fits in our supplier categories but isn't registered for payment cards. There's a form the store can fill in to request to become a supplier – your youth coach might be able to help sort it.
