We recently visited Howard Station Cafe for a family breakfast and were thoroughly impressed. The warm and welcoming atmosphere set the tone for a delightful experience from the moment we walked in. The staff were friendly and accommodating.The menu offered a fantastic variety of options, catering to adult and children's tastes. Our meals were delicious and presented beautifully, showcasing the care and quality put into each dish. The ingredients tasted fresh and were expertly prepared, delighting each bite.The meal in the photo features a classic breakfast setup that appears delicious and well-prepared. On the plate closest to the foreground are two fluffy pancakes, with the top pancake generously topped with a blackberry compote or jam, providing a vibrant contrast to the golden-brown pancakes. The jam's rich, dark color suggests it's made from fresh or possibly stewed berries, which are likely to add a sweet and slightly tart flavor to the pancakes.A small container of maple syrup accompanies the pancakes. Stopped in for breakfast while touring Occidental and some old grove redwoods. The food was great!! In addition to perfect omelets, the blueberry pancakes were delicious HOWEVER, then we saw the Pumpkin Waffle !! Had to add that. If you are around while they still serve it (this was Oct weekend just before Halloween) definitely get it! Just remember to bring a BIG appetite. The food portions are very healthy and the staff wonderful.

Howard’s Station is a jewel in this little town of Occidental. We came on a Saturday right at opening. You order at the register then go sit at a table. The coffee was good and the food was fantastic. The service was super fast too. Don’t forget to try their pastries. The chocolate cherry muffin was so good!

AMAZING! Blew my mind. Food was great, service was great, atmosphere was great. Went with friends and we were all more than more than satisfied.

Even in the middle of the week the place was packed for breakfast, i highly recommend the salmon flointine, perhaps a bit heavy on the capers. Probably the best home fries I have ever had.

We've just discovered Howard's and love it. The food and the atmosphere are great! The Peach Waffle and the Primo Potatoes are astonishing. This is a really fun, local-atmosphere place. It really did used to be a train station. The small town library is just around the corner.

We enjoyed our breakfast in the dining room. The breakfast burrito is massive and my husband was defeated by it. The biscuits and gravy were also a highlight. The fresh juices were delicious! Staff were friendly and the food came quickly. Would definitely come again if we're back in the area.

Cute little place for breakfast or brunch. Nice juice and vegan options available. The red ferrari fresh juice was refreshing! Tried Vegetarian omelette, veggie Benedict and brown rice bowl in our group. You can pick your own table, grab the menus and order at the counter.

Small town diner is a gorgeous location. Good selection of breakfast and lunch fares, with exciting and tasty specials. Also a great place to head for breakfast for anyone with a restricted diet; gluten free and vegan options are always available.

This place used to serve the best greek omelets. I don't know about now. They need to move to a bigger town (Santa Rosa), they would become more popular their.

Such a cute place in a historic building. Definitely a favorite local spot in Occidental. Highly recommend!

Surprisingly vegan friendly. I had the huevos rancheros with tofu, and my partner had vegan french toast. The servers were cheerful and knowledgeable about which items could be made vegan. The cafe is cute on the inside, especially if you like history or trains.

Must try!This is a perfect place for wood fire roasted pizza. We ordered Blue cheese, Mushroom & Mozzarella Pizza. All the pizzas were very yummy. Everyone on the table had their own personal favorite. My favorite was Mushroom pizza. Desserts were also very yum.I would like to thank Bruce(our server) for being such a nice host. All the staff members are very friendly.

We read all good reviews about Hazel while we stayed in Occidental so we decided to have dinner here. We had sourdough bread, fried brussel sprouts (with applewood bacon, lemon, parmigiano ), seafood stew and mushroom pizza. Everything was wonderful, especially the brussel sprouts (the best brussel sprouts dish I’ve ever had). The seafood stew was also delicious and tasted so fresh. The wine selection was fantastic. We were here on Saturday night and it was packed so make a reservation before coming. They also has patio seating if it doesn’t rain.

Everything was delicious with generous portions! Our favorite was the Pt. Reyes blue cheese thin-crust pizza with marcona almonds and arugula. I also loved the pecan cheesecake. There’s a cute little assortment of baked goods at the front as well.

We celebrated a birthday and were blown away by both the quality and quantity of the food.It's hard to make a salad exciting but the little gems was a hit with our group.The cioppino was incredible and you get so much! Don't skip dessert either, as the coconut cream pie is next level.The atmosphere is very cozy and the staff friendly. They handled our large group well in the middle of a busy dinner service.Would love to come back here!

Absolutely love this place! Fresh, local ingredients. Pizzas are creative and so flavorful. The gluten free one was just as good as the regular! Worth the drive!

From the laid-back atmosphere, to the friendly and personable staff, you can't go wrong at Hazel, from appetizers to desserts. We had their life-changing Brussels sprouts with a ridiculous amount of parmesan Reggiano and bacon. The portion size for the entrees is generous and served as lunch the next day! (Perfect pot roast). The wood fired pizza is simply delicious. The Halibut and seafood was well-prepared if a bit brothy. Dessert was a homerun with hot fudge sundaes with crunchy toffee and homemade maraschino cherries. The olive oil cake was moist and light. Great place! Great town! Worth the drive!

I've been here twice now this place is fabulous. wood fire oven Pizzas are delicious. Chicken dish Yes to die for. Fish stew Super flavourful. Pot de creme desert yummy. We had a very fun and attentive Waitress. My 3rd visit was not as good The pizza was watery in the middle The dough never rose in the middle It was soggy, They made it twice the same way. It was a Sunday And they way overbook With not enough Waitress All the tables were shoved close it Was extremely loud and not a relaxing dinner. I think the owner was trying to squeeze Every dime out of the night. If this was my first impression of this restaurant I would never go back. Several workers behind the counter were just standing around while the waitresses were running at full speed. I hope the owner reads this and makes some Changes definitely needs to work on his dough for the pizza. It is not cooked properly in the center 3rd time I've had it this way. Drop it on a hot pizza pan with some oil if you have to.

This restaurant is incredible. We stopped in for our anniversary. The food is superb and the portions are huge! My wife and I ordered two entrees and a starter and it was so much food. I highly recommend the peppers to start (see pic) and the dessert was out of this world. Their wine selection is quite good, but if you’ve been wine tasting in the area you should consider bringing your own because the corkage fee is only $20.

So grateful we were able to experience this place..They were definatley busy and I could taste why :-).Bruce was excellent and made it an experience to remember. Thank You!.We ended up going back the next night as the menue was amazing!..The ribs were just mouthwatering! Meat was just following off the bone!.Brick oven pizza is always so crisp and theirs was on point!

Do yourself a favor and make a reservation at this lovely restaurant. Hazel is the place to dine in the Bohemian Highway area - it’s such a treat. Everyone from host to chef (we sat at the chef’s table) was very kind, welcoming, and highly professional. Ezekiel, our waiter, was the best - thank you very much. We got to see chef in action creating magic in the kitchen and wow - every dish he brought out was a masterpiece. We ordered roasted chicken and crab platter - everything was fresh, delicious, and amazing. The dessert looked so tempting, but we didn’t have enough room (hazelnut sundae looked soo good).

If you are in Occidental and in need of Mexican food you will not go wrong visiting this place. The prices are very reasonable, the service fast and the food is good. I will go back.

Food was delicious! Got myself a steak fajitas with a side of flour tortilas. The steak and fajitas were amazing and the flour tortilas taste so fresh! My husband is a vegetarian and he got vegie tamales and enchiladas, both he enjoyed a lot. Looks like a local favorite as well, as after we sat down for our meals, lines of people started coming in for their order. Service was quick and efficient. Highly recommend!

Tasty, cheap, excellent Mexican food. Great to have outdoor seating for pandemic safety. Convenient location on the main road. Recommend.

Love this place small, funky, flavorful, make a point to stop there whenever I can to get the super veggie quesadilla. Was with someone who who forgot hot is hot because the food here is authentic they were kind enough to remake part of it and offer sour cream at no extra charge to cut some of the heat. Love this place!

Amazing food! The shredded chicken is so juicy and perfect, and the carne asada is authentic and full of flavor! So glad I stopped in, I’m bookmarking it so I can come back!

It's an all outdoor seating authentic Mexican Restaurant in beautiful Occidental. Whatever you order is cooked from fresh ingredients obtained in Sonoma County. You dine outside amongst the beautiful trees in the downtown area.You must go inside to order your food, which will be brought out to you.

Went here after going Ziplining and it was sooo good and it was quick made to order and it was so delicious and the horchata was top tier

It’s more of a to go kind of place as their limited seating there, one table inside and the rest outside. Great service and staff. Yummy food. Free parking, right next to howard’s. Ordered the al pastor burrito, so good!

So best Mexican food in sonoma county? El mariachi may very well be. However they hands down have the best horchata and burritos on the west side of the county

I love the food here it tastes AMAZING! I've been coming here for years! The staff is great, the food is on point🔥, and it's a beautiful location. I have not been in a while and just went yesterday, the reason for only giving 3 stars is because I ordered a super burrito and it was not so super. It's about half the size it used to be. For the same price. I understand covid has affected many businesses and pricing but come on guys! You cant call that super, it was about the size of taco bells grilled XL burrito. Still tasted amazing, but not as super as it used to be. 😐

We’ve been coming here for years, and we love it. The food is delicious, and the staff and owners are so friendly and wonderful. Great setting, indoors and outdoors. Highly recommended!

Best bruschetta I’ve ever had. What made the experience so special was not only the incredible food but the generous hospitality. The owner was super sweet, friendly, and accommodating. She really made the experience special for us and we will never forget it.

If you are on your way from SF to anywhere near Guerneville, or just driving by, you *** HAVE *** to make a stop at the Union Hotel Restaurant. This is a family owned place, for over a century, you will see all the family photos on the wall, the people are amazing, super friendly, incredibly hospitable. The food is really good, they also have a super co*cktail bar, outdoors dining is very nice (even in the cold, with heating lamps - and perfect in covid times, you can totally social distance from other customers. The amazing food comes in huge portions (you can essentially keep the rest for your next meal). Also, they have a lot of really good products you can get from them, like cookies, granola (amazing!!!) and carrot cake. There is also a really nice indoors space with a grand piano, and a room you can rent for BDs!Also, the owner, Barbara, has a book about the town. If you get the book (which you can get cat the store), you should totally get her to sign it for you!!!! Her family has been here for over 100 years, they have seen it all!My 9 years old was so excited about the place he wrote this review!I think that they are nice because they give a lot of food and they are friendly. Also the fire places are warm and the hole restaurant is relaxing. They also get the bread warm out of the oven when you eat. And also they make the food really fast that is why i like union hotel restaurant!

This place is a must if you're in the point reyes area. It has a rich history going back into the 1800s. The food is delicious as it has been for decades, my family has been coming here since the 1960s. The shops in the area are also nice to walk through before coming here.

The Union Hotel is Occidental hospitality, charm and wholesome goodness all wrapped up into one. A family favorite of ours for over 35 years! Whenever we visit, my parents always love to remind me how I squealed for joy at an event in the Union Hotel ballroom when I was a few months old. So much heart here! The spaghetti and meatballs are always a must order and we love the pizza too! And special shoutout for the turnovers - they are some of my favorite and most crave-worthy pastries in all of Sonoma County - perfect pastry to fruit ratio! Thank you, Barbara!

Excellent breakfast….Although heard they just sold. So not sure if the same after new owner.Only a few restaurants in this lil town…Had limited hrs of operations. Usually weekends …always check in traveling mid weekCoffee and pancakes were wonderful….enjoyed both very much.

We rented the Bocce Ballroom for our sons Graduation party and it was amazing! I have been dining at UH since I was a teen and Ive always dreamed if hosting an event there. The room is timeless! We had 100 guest and it never felt overwhelming. There was plenty if room for everyone to enjoy themselves. The food was served hot and there was always plenty if it. As always it was sooo good!I highly recommend the Bocce Ballroom for your large events. It’s truly a magical space.

This place is a gem! The owner, Barbara and her family, made us feel so welcome. A regular named Skip, gave us a venue tour and then we stayed for dinner. All of the food was incredible, especially the bruschetta. We absolutely can’t wait to return! Thanks Barbara!

If you have ever dined at the Union Hotel in the past, beware, it's a shadow of what it used to be. This restaurant has a very small menu, with fairly high prices and food that is just okay. The service was good however. It's almost more of a pizzeria now than an Italian restaurant. The days of family-style authentic Italian cuisine are over at the Union Hotel, and my patronage after decades is over as well.

My daughter, granddaughter, grandson and I went there last year on vacation. We were truly pleased and we will be going back this year. The food was great the place was clean and the service was fantastic.

This is a true local gem with so much charm. Beautiful outdoor patio, flowers, greenery, historic decor, and you got to love the live piano music!!I highly recommend the garlic gold pizza, it’s delicious. Love the warm bread rolls that come with every meal and the carrot cake is to die for, it’s sooo moist! Wonderful service as well, great energy, friendly, and really make sure you are taken care of.The Union is also a beautiful event space and as you can see from the photos they go above and beyond to make it special for you with a gorgeous set up and great meals.

Great selection of beers, good food and live music. Last time I was there a cool jazz trio was jamming.

Editing this to update since they’ve reopened!Onion rings are even better! We had the blistered carrots (maybe a couple more carrots?) and the Brussels sprouts. Both were great although a little less sugar in the sauces would have been better. The clam chowder was superb, chunky and full of goodness, not thin on ingredients like most we’ve had.We love their fish and chips, absolutely the best around! And the craft beers, especially the henhouse. The live music isn’t bad either -I wish they would re-open!

Classic vegetarian order at a pub/burger place: salad and an order of fried somethings. LOLTruthfully I LOVED the huge fresh chunks of beet and they didn't skimp!! Two varieties. So good. The dressing was perfect, not too much. Only thing would be to add a few more nuts and cheese to really round out the dish nutritionally. The onion rings we so crispy! The breading was light and airy - perfect. Just next time, suggestion to put them on a parchment or towel or something to soak up the excess oil as it makes them go soggy as they cool. My boyfriend and mom got burgers which they completely finished and said were great!Atmosphere was quiant, small-town. A perfect spot to grab a bite and enjoy the afternoon just slowly observing life, going down to the Russian River, and taking in the beauty of the California country side.

This place certainly fills a need in the small town of Occidental. Tasty food, nice light dining room with lots of windows, dark dank bar with just enough stools, old wood style construction, and several local craft beers on tap. Bar tender did a great job of also being the server. The food was tasty, but my medium cooked burger (2 times now), drips all over the tray they serve you on. Watch out for your fries or onion rings, because they will get soggy in burger juice (not to mention your bun if you let it sit too long before biting). Again, very tasty, but something in the execution was off. Food was priced about what you would expect from such a place from such a location in Sonoma County (a bit pricey). I really want this place to be what it used to be (somewhat better food execution), but I will come back, just not go out of my way.

Occidental is a really nice small town with this awesome little tavern burger and a beer in a historic house converted into a pub. I'm not a big fan of being crowded, and it's a small place to begin with but it's the only bar I know of around here with live music almost every night

YES THEY ARE OPEN!I love this place, it is seriously one of the best spots in Occidental and anywhere in Sonoma County really to eat. The service is amazing, the staff are so friendly and welcoming. The food is to die for!The new Chef, Seth is putting out some amazing appetizers, entrees, and desserts.So far Ive tried the chicken wings with both of the different sauces and they are so crispy and delicious! The Green Goddess sandwich with local bread, avocado, roasted tomatoes, sprouts, house-made aioli sauce and lettuce is something that I crave and I'm not even vegetarian. So freaking good! The boyfriend and I went there last week and tried the Hot Mess Burger Special with their onion rings and omg did it ever live up to the name! Perfectly cooked beef, smoked mozzarella cheese, sunny side up egg and bacon, need I say more?! I can go on and on about the food, just try everything! LolThe desserts have been just as tasty as the rest of the dishes. I've had the chocolate mouse and the croissant bread pudding which was something I've never had before and it was outstanding! The dessert selection changes so it's nice to have something different each time.Amanda, the main manager/bartender/server/awesome chic really makes the restaurant go and gives the place a positive vibe. I love this place, definitely have to try it when you are in Occidental!

The BH Burger is perfect. Cannot be improved upon. Add a local craft beer and live music, and experience the best of what a small mountain town pub has to offer.

Gorgeous little garden with veggies next door. Visitors travel from San Jose and San Francisco to buy this baked bread. Absolutely fabulous, delicious bread. We are eating it now. My friends and I bought it two hours ago. We have been eating the scones all day.

Wildflour was recommended to me by a Santa Rosa local and needless to say, it definitely is a must try!Known for artisanal bread and their bomb scones, wild flour has a lot of variety of bread that fits everybody’s bread cravings ranging from sourdough, savory, sweet, flat breads, and pastries.Would recommend their garlic rosemary, any of their flatbreads, and anyone of their scones!There was a line on Sunday afternoon (assuming there’s always a line lol)Parking lot is kinda small but many people just park on the side of the road anyway.10/10 must try or make it tour pit stop if you’re in sonoma county!

Amazing bread/baked goods in Freestone. Very organized they have lines marked and the large menu board up front. When they are out of something they tape it off. The cookies are giant and delicious. The first stop we got the Gouda bread which we demolished so went back to get another loaf to take home and ended up getting 6 more. Highly recommend.They also have a garden you can visit, don't pick anything

I unfortunately didn't take pictures of the bread but it was absolutely awesome! Fougasse with cheese and mushroom is a must try. Sticky bun absolute delight. Get napkins for sticky fingers or just lick them, it's so good 😋. I also got got GEM bread, whole wheat artisanal loaf. As a seasoned bread baker I was impressed by the taste and texture. Everything was fresh from the oven. The garden and pick nick tables make it a great place for a breakfast stop. Hidden gem.

We bought Superseed Bread, 2 scones: one is triple berry, the other is Meyer Lemon, omg definitely the best scone ever!!!!!! Definitely worth the drive here!

This place makes the best, freshest scones, bread, cookies etc. you could ever ask for.. seriously good stuff.Worth the wait if you hit peak hours. Coffee was so damn good, it's ruined all coffee elsewhere for me! Beautiful vegtable garden with picnic tables out back, I'd love to see it during summer. Very friendly staff. We visit WF whenever we are passing through Bodega Bay for many years now but never wrote a review....This time during our Labor weekend trip we stopped by on the way to grab couple of pastries & bread .They have a lovely garden with incudes veggies , herbs, fruits etc... we fell in love with their garden when we visited them first time... from then we always make it a point to take a stroll through the small garden.Earlier ( before pandemic) we use to go inside the bakery & choose from the wide variety of artisan breads & pastries it was so fun ... now they have stopped it ... hope they start it again... same with the garden too ... we miss checking out the garden ....Anyway, I purchased their whole wheat bread which we really enjoy & couple of pastries... everyone enjoyed the special treats especially the kids...We have tried all their bread which are delicious . Do check it out ... they accept credit cards. I enjoy the drive too.

Well worth the drive out into the middle of nowhere. We purchased the Garlic/Rosemary loaf, the Super Seed loaf, two scones, and a sticky bun, but judging by this spread, I can almost assure you everything is going to be good here.My favorite was their Seed loaf; I think I would've liked the sticky bun more without the raisins, but that's just personal preference. Great experience! Loved the drive out here winding through the mountains, too.

This is a true, authentic reflection of west Sonoma County. Lovely people, beautiful displays, wonderful garden, amazing location...and those scones are to DIE for. All of the baked goods are legendary. I've been living out of CA for a few years now and I think about this place at least once a month. Truly a destination point on its own but it's right near the coast so there's plenty else to see out there if you decide to make the trip. Can't wait to go back!

Greatest bread. No other comment needed. Open 4 days a week (Fri-Mon) and a long fast moving line during the weekends. They have a variety of interesting breads; olive, superseeds, cheese and so on. The scones are also fantastic, my favorite is the gluten free mushroom asiago one. Drinks are passable but you should be here only for the bread anyway. Worth a detour on your California road trip or even the hour long trip from San Francisco.

By the time they ran out of almost everything. But fortunately got the mango raspberry scone and that really was the best scone I have ever eaten. and such a magical location!

The bread is rock hard and dense and I was worried I was going to chip my teeth. The sticky bun while being a huge portion, looks delicious, but when you eat it it’s so dry you have to choke it down. Make sure you order a drink to go with it 😂 Maybe it’s a style of baking I’m not familiar with, but I thought sticky buns were supposed to be light and fluffy. Also while I was ordering the person behind the counter acts entitled like they are doing you a favor letting you buy food from them and it made me nervous while ordering. I would never go back and I’m puzzled by the good reviews. The area it’s located in is beautiful though.

If I could rate this place 6 stars, I would. This is exactly what I needed from a bakery. Everything was so fresh and insanely delicious.We've never liked scones and now we realize we do if you make them right. This place does!We got two scones (strawberry rhubarb and jalapeño cheddar), a sticky bun, and a cheesy mushroom onion fugasse bread.I can't even tell you how blown away I was with this place and the flavors. Extraordinary bread! The Egyptian Sweet Bread was beyond what I expected. I wish I bought more to take home, I ate the whole bread on my way home haha. Mind you, I live 2 hours away. I would definitely drive 2 hours just to come here. Thank you for the yummy bread!

Sweet or savory, this place is great. You'll probably have to park on the street and wait in line during peak hours, which is usually a sign of a quality product. Not sure why many negative reviews complain about this. We stop here anytime we're in the area.

The scones are remarkable. The garlic rosemary sour dough went well with the cheese and salami board we had. The walnut, cinnamon bread was really good but a little over powering with our breakfast. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I thanked my wife multiple times for finding this hidden gem.

Delicious breakfast, fun choices, and the milkshakes are amazing!

We had hot drinks and desserts. Very yummy. I whis we had eaten our lunch here too.

5-star all around. Altamont has great food and local artists treasures. Loved it!Come to enjoy and slow down. There is no city rush here.

Absolutely ten out of ten. The atmosphere is clean, well lit, trendy yet tasteful music. Rustic and boho and modern decor.The service make up kind, gentle people (mostly women) who are very kind and helpful presence.and the food is the absolute best part. Reasonably priced for how astounding the food is. The taste is out of this world. And the quality of the food feels healthy and fresh. Food is by far my favorite part.

The food and coffee are good...in the expensive side. A delish muffin is $5.30 then they ask for a tip. Part of the place is super nice for chilling and having a coffee shop experience..but then the rest is super disjointed. There are little nooks with random things and you end up walking behind the counter and in the kitchen if you want to see the different offerings. It feels like they sort of gave up on their vision?!

What a great find. We were in the area and the other restaurant we'd planned to get breakfast at was closed, so we had to find a last minute alternative. We should have just planned on the Altamont in the first place - great coffees, delicious, fresh breakfast menu (and pastries), and just overall a really cool space with friendly staff. If we lived nearby we'd be in here weekly.

Very nice, open areas inside. Local artists tables & well stocked cases of to go food & beverages. On tap beers, everyone but myself had milkshakes!I had: Altamont Egg breakfast sandwich, Meil Coffee & got salad to go! Hard seltzer I picked up at the general store on same side. Including great downtown area it's a must visit!

This is a typical American small-town hotel with a bar and a restaurant. The lunch is so huge for anyone to finish. The food quality is good but short of outstanding. A very nice place for family gathering.

Another Amazing lunch at the Union Hotel! The bruschetta and ravioli are a must! The carrot cake is the best in town! A beautiful rustic Italian atmosphere where everyone makes you feel like family!

If you are on your way from SF to anywhere near Guerneville, or just driving by, you *** HAVE *** to make a stop at the Union Hotel Restaurant. This is a family owned place, for over a century, you will see all the family photos on the wall, the people are amazing, super friendly, incredibly hospitable. The food is really good, they also have a super co*cktail bar, outdoors dining is very nice (even in the cold, with heating lamps - and perfect in covid times, you can totally social distance from other customers. The amazing food comes in huge portions (you can essentially keep the rest for your next meal). Also, they have a lot of really good products you can get from them, like cookies, granola (amazing!!!) and carrot cake. There is also a really nice indoors space with a grand piano, and a room you can rent for BDs!Also, the owner, Barbara, has a book about the town. If you get the book (which you can get cat the store), you should totally get her to sign it for you!!!! Her family has been here for over 100 years, they have seen it all!My 9 years old was so excited about the place he wrote this review!I think that they are nice because they give a lot of food and they are friendly. Also the fire places are warm and the hole restaurant is relaxing. They also get the bread warm out of the oven when you eat. And also they make the food really fast that is why i like union hotel restaurant!

The food here is amazing, and the people are so sweet. I live 2 hours away and let me tell you I drive down just to have dinner here. I recommend if you are any where near the area, great for a date, with family or if you need a quiet night out alone or with friends. It is also kid friendly.

Take out food & drinks available on some Saturdays and during the week.(I think) There's Outdoor seating with covered top. Prices are high but it's because occidental is a tourist town. Hamburger was flippin delish. Ravioli was good to

Occidental is a historic village in the redwoods. The Union Hotel is an amazing place to eat and the saloon is a fun throwback in time. The family owners also have Occidental Guest Houses on the hill which were a great find!

Occidental Guest House and Occidental Union Hotel are both worth the visit. Not only do you get great food and lodging, but you are in one of the most beautiful areas in the world! Come visit this gem tucked away in Northern California, you will not be disappointed.

The food was excellent! Service seemed slower than normal and I wish they would have opened the other side of the restaurant because the small area that is opened got so busy quickly and then it got super loud, you really couldn’t hear the person sitting next to you. But if you’re looking for great pizza and pasta this is a great place to go!!

I am clearly in the minority here. I went recently after not having been there in easily 5 years. 5 years ago this was a place that did the classic Italian type dinner. Soup and salad was included with the meal. No longer. The new place is more a traditional restaurant. And not very good. The co*cktail I ordered was not good. I had the pasta and shrimp and the shrimp was good, but it was like a mass or clump of angel hair pasta. My date has a chicken with lemon sauce she said was not good either. I doubt I will be returning

This is the PLACE of all places to have Italian food. My family and I have been coming to Negri's Original Occidental since I was a kid in the 70s. I live in AZ now, but whenever we are on our way to the Bay Area we HAVE to stop and have a delicious meal here. Thank you for keeping up the tradition

Food was excellent. My husband had spaghetti and meatballs and he cleaned his plate. I had linguine and fresh clams and it was amazing. If you have not been here, it's worth every penny!!

Our friends took us there, for a great dinner experience. Everything was exceptional, the drinks, the food the service. We were having such a great time we closed the place. The staff was very gracious about us hang out. We'll looking forward to trying lunch.

UPDATE: The main restaurant area is closed. Only the adjacent Joe's Bar is open. Still, great food, casual atmosphere.Old school Italian. Fun, casual, excellent food, plenty of parking. I love their ravioli with a side of meatballs.

Pretty good place we had the calamari, pasta with prawns and the pepperoni pizza. Calamari I wouldn’t recommend. Tasted as if they bought frozen pre-breaded calimari and fried it. Was rubbery and not fresh. The pasta was great! Subtle garlic flavor, perfectly cooked and saucy. The pizza in my opinion was 4 stars. Pretty good. But not excellent. I actually preferred the crust vs the part with the sauce, cheese and pepperoni. Other than that service was great!

Negri’s Original is the best Italian restaurant on Earth, you will blown away. I had their homemade minestrone soup and angel hair pasta with marinara, I was shocked. The very nice team members and Owner made the experience amazing. Long live Negri’s!!!!!Daniel Read IV

This is one of my favorite 'old school Italian restaurants. It's been around for a while and it shows, I think that is what adds to the charm. Family owned and run, making you feel like your right at home. Nothing really fancy just a good old home style Italian meal. Good portions so you won't leave hungry in a casual setting. Good value.

Great food and great people. The perfect spot to rest and re-energize with a drink and fantastic food that will satisfy your cravings.

I don't like eating in the bar. It's so loud you can't have a conversation without shouting. It's not charming like the restaurant was. Also, without the family style dining, there really isn't anything special about this place now.

The atmosphere on the outside patio felt like a dream, the service, drinks and food were good, however my husband’s steak was on the same plate as the side salad and the salad dressing was mixing into the steak. It was a shame since the steak might have been very good if this didn’t happen.

We sadly cannot rate the food. We sat on the beautiful patio with our puppy on a rather warm day. The one waiter was totally consumed with a table of 4. Other tables were sat after us and the waiter finally approached them, ignoring us. As a former server I always tried to take care of parties with children or dogs recognizing their quality time may be limited. But to totally be ignored by the server who sat us is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. We got up and left.

I really enjoy the atmosphere of this place. I told them it was ok to be in the portable canopy near the road, which they warned me about. There was constant noise from the road but not noticeable fumes. Interesting menu items and super coffee. Has a real bar, I couldn't enjoy as was driving. Fairly good size restaurant indoors.

Food was okay, not bad, not great, but excellent co*cktails! Service was spot on. Small menu for dinner, 6 entrees only, with no poultry option. Unwanted surprise was the "kitchen appreciation" add on our bill. Yes, it was noted in fine print at the bottom of the menu, but still....really? This "appreciation" should be incorporated into the coats of the entrees. We wouldn't really recommend the place except maybe the bar for a very nice drink.

Loved everything about this restaurant. If you're looking for a nice place to go to dinner, whether on date night or with the family in Sebastopol this is the place to go!

Gravenstein Grill is always a luxurious treat. My family and I had Easter brunch there and it was great. We sat on the patio, which had a beautiful ambiance with a live guitar player and gorgeous scenery. The food was delicious, though my only complaint would be for their poached eggs. I love runny poached eggs but not everyone does so I might advice to order eggs accordingly for your own taste. But over all, the food and drinks were great. And of course, service was spectacular. Our waiter was very personable and cheerful, which made the experience that much more enjoyable. This was my third time at Gravenstein Grill and I have not been disappointed once.

Came for a Friday brunch. Beautiful outdoor patio space. The special today was pork sliders on homemade sweet rolls and tangy slaw and was phenomenal. We also ordered the Smoked Gouda Orzo Mac ‘n Cheese (good, not great) and Clam Chowder, which was excellent - hearty but not pasty. Would be 5 stars if not for the constant noise from Bodega Rd.

Incredible restaurant. Our server, Maurice, was 5 star to say the least. On point, on time, and matched a wine for every dish like an expert. We will definitely be going back and highly recommendthis place to anyone.

I had a great time on the patio dancing and singing with fellow diners listening to the trio of guitar players called De’j’vu! I came for the music and wasn’t disappointed 🤩The service was great, some loud pollution from road but the crowd & atmosphere was made up for it. Had Caesar Salad, needed more flavor. Great spirit menu. Great spot to return to for more music & try some other items on menu.

Tempeh a plant based meat substitute salad I had here was great. The salmon tartare melted on my tounge. My wife had the chicken cordon blue with was spot on tasty. Great food.

Know that more is not necessarily better. The tomato soup that I ordered tasted more like tomato sauce. Way too salty way too strong. I did take it home and I think I’ll add a cup of milk to it tomorrow and it’ll probably be fine. The fries had so much salt on them, we could hardly eat them. And that’s super sad because the fries themselves were perfectly cooked.

We ordered takeout due to COVID restrictions. This photo doesn’t do it justice. We got home 30 minutes later after picking it up and it was complete perfection. Prepared medium rare just as we ordered it online. I was not prepared for this presentation. Even as a takeout dish, it was beautifully prepared and presented. We've been going to the Sonoma Wine Shop/La Bodega Kitchen since they opened more than 10 years ago. In fact, we're probably one of the longest members there. When they decided to go entirely vegetarian I was happy but a bit skeptical. So tonight I had the Lasagna Bolognese and it was BETTER than the meat version! No kidding! You can't tell it's not meat! And frankly, I feel better after eating (not so bloated and full). It was the most delicious lasagna I've ever had. Along with their amazing Harvest View Petite Verdot I couldn't be happier. It's better for me and my planet. Thank you Meek, Rick and Bryan for feeding us so well and taking care of Mother Earth too!

My wife and I are long-time vegans. We just ate at La Bodega Kitchen as part of a birthday celebration for my mother, accompanied by two cousins and partner. Driving away after a dining experience that my wife and I can only describe as sublime, she and I concluded that we had just eaten the best vegan meal we had ever had in the USA. Hands down. Each course of the food was perfect, from the roasted potato appetizer to the beet salad to the minestrone soup and finishing with the highest quality vegan desserts. All paired with an excellent wine recommended to the table. Three of the six of us were vegetarians and said that the vegetarian dishes were equally outstanding. The service was warm, helpful and embracing. This was one of those rare restaurant experiences that will be remembered for a long, long time.

Truly one the best meals and experiences I’ve ever had in the area. The food was beyond exceptional and the service felt as though the staff were my family (in the best way). I can confidently say I’ll be back each time I’m in the area. We were over the moon for this place! Thank you Meek for creating such a phenomenal place.

Amazing experience! We got great food, you can see below the house waffles, the Mediterranean plate, eggs Benedict, but the best of all was the wine flight: the awesome waiter took us through 8 wines produced in the area and she even brought us some complimentary cheese (exquisite) to go with the Chardonnay. This place is a hidden gem!!!They were closed on the 4th but decided to open for us. The host was super nice, and she was very welcoming. It was a magical experience. The food was one of the best I've had . The mezza and artichoke arracini was an exquisite mix of a culinary dream. You will not be disappointed. For those chefs out there, please take note, this chef is Michelin quality when it comes to taste!.

Astounding experience! In every aspect, La Bodega knocked it out of the park. Not only were we treated like family, the food was so carefully prepared that we left feeling like La Bodega deserved way more than 5 stars. If vegan/vegetarian makes you nervous, let us assure you that you will leave with a full and happy belly (and think how happy your cardiologist will be with your plant based selections!). Wine drinkers, you also will be treated as if you are sharing a bottle with an old friend. The entire staff is knowledgeable about the menu and the wine pairings. The ambiance, the care, the food itself- all incredible. We will be back!

We can’t begin to thank meekk and her team enough for making our wedding day an absolute dream come true. Ok. Imma bout to gush 💖 and it's a long one.Today is the 5th anniversary of my marriage to Ron Guptill. We have been so incredibly blessed in a few different restaurants to be "adopted" and truly treated like deeply loved family. I've posted about TIPS Roadside recently and this evening I'm posting about Sonoma Wine Shop and La Bodega Kitchen in Sebastopol.Early in our relationship I discovered "Restaurant Week". I am not from Santa Rosa so I didn't know that was a thing. I'm gluten free due to Celiacs, so finding a place where I can equally enjoy the menu can be challenging.Anyway, I was looking at menus online and stopped on one that had the yummiest sounding menu, had lots of specifically gluten free options and had one of my mother's absolute favorite desserts, alfahores (She grew up in Argentina). It was a total win.We went and were surprised by the fun family style way of service. Our hostess Meekk immediately felt like family. The food was delicious and we enjoyed our time thoroughly.Fast forward. We've gone to La Bodega Kitchen many times, often spending special holidays there like Mother's Day, birthdays and the like..and every time, we are treated like long lost family. Her partner Brian hung out at our table for well into an hour one Mother's Day taking about wine, food and like. We love the house chicken who sometimes comes to visit us outside.One evening we were sitting in their new outdoor area, when restaurants were just beginning to reopen. Despite all of our visits, hugs and the family vibe every time, we had not become members of the wine club. We decided that evening to do so. She was surprised and said she thought we had been members for years. She took her time testing our palates, giving suggestions and coming up with our likes and loves. We became members and get wine every few months now.So what are the pictures about?My husband got sick yesterday. We had planned our Anniversary dinner for this evening and called late afternoon to let them know that unfortunately we were not able to come in person and we needed to do to takeout. We wanted to be responsible and stay home. He was devastated that we couldn't dine in for our celebration.Meekk herself came out to the car, and joked about us taking pictures of our Anniversary picnic. She had told my husband she'd have something special for us and she was NOT JOKING. It was dark so I had no idea what she was talking about until we opened the trunk when we got home and saw that there was a huge basket filled with amazingness inside.The food was carefully wrapped and piping hot. Fresh flowers, a white tablecloth, a candle, a little dessert tray and our incredible food. And instead of being in to-go containers, almost everything was on its own real plate or in a bowl including the hot dishes which were in porcelain boats.My husband immediately teared up seeing how much love, care and effort was put into making our stay at home Anniversary dinner so incredibly special.Oh and we broke out one of our bottles of wine from our membership tooOur dinner was spectacular.
