Before using UPI as a payment mode, you need to sign-up for the service at the bank via mobile or net-banking facility. Then, follow the steps to generate your unique UPI PIN.
Step 4:Enter the expiry date and the last six digits of your ATM or Debit card to receive an OTP from the authorised bank on your registered mobile number.
Step 5:Enter the OTP and set a UPI PIN as per your choice, and click on “Submit”.
Once done, you will receive a congratulatory message on your registered mobile phone confirming a successful UPI PIN generation. After that, you can make online transactions from your linked bank account with the UPI PIN for authentication purposes.
Nonetheless, if you lose your mobile phone, forget the PIN, or enter it wrong three consecutive times, you need to reset it.

UPI PIN that stands for Unified Payments Interface Personal Identification Number is a 4 or 6 digit number set by the users themselves either at the time of UPI registration on a UPI application or later.

Is UPI PIN and ATM PIN the same? No, the UPI and ATM pins are not the same. While a UPI PIN is required for transactions only via UPI applications, an ATM pin is a four-digit code necessary to authenticate debit card payments and withdraw cash from ATMs.
You can reset your UPI PIN using “RESET UPI PIN” feature of the app. To do the same, go to My Account > UPI Settings > UPI linked bank accounts > Reset'. You will be asked to enter the debit card details to set the UPI PIN.
Important Note: Your UPI PIN is independent of your mobile banking app (and its MPIN). You can have a UPI PIN set up in various UPI apps, each with its own unique PIN.
If you don't have either option for resetting your PIN, you'll need to contact your bank directly. They can guide you through alternative methods for regaining access to your UPI account.

A UPI Number is a bank-verified phone number identifier of your UPI ID. It allows you to receive money from users, regardless of the app the user is on. You can create up to 3 UPI numbers for a UPI ID.
To set your UPI PIN, navigate to the app's settings or UPI number section. You may be required to enter your Debit Card details, including the card number and its expiration date. Following this, you will be prompted to create a 4 or 6-digit UPI number.
Download a UPI application app such as BHIM UPI, Google Pay, PhonePe, or Paytm. Go to your profile and select 'Set up payment method' or 'Add bank account'. Select your bank and verify your phone number with the bank. Once the phone number is verified, you will have to set up the UPI PIN.
