Hi there Barbara, it's so great to welcome fellow Canadians here at planDisney!
There's really nothing like making a mid-winter getaway from the chilly surroundings in Ontario in search of sunny skies over Orlando. From the looks of it, you're going to be arriving during what is typically one of the most popular times of the year to visit when the crowds descend upon the theme parks over the holidays, but you've luckily come to us at planDisney for a bit of advice in advance and I'm glad that I was able to get to your question before you head down to Florida!
To answer your question as simply as possible, the best way to purchase tickets in my opinion is as early as possible online via the Walt Disney World Resort website which has always been the most efficient option for us overall. With the chance of availability being limited for certain Theme Parks when purchasing tickets (for example, this week there appears to be no more remaining Park Reservation availability for Magic Kingdom Park at the current time), many clever Canadians have learned to plan ahead and I sincerely hope that you already have your tickets ready for this trip coming up in just three days. For a bit of added flexibility in the theme parks that you’ll be able to visit, I recommend purchasing the Park Hopper option which could definitely save you from crowded days as you can choose to spend the remainder of your day at a different theme park destination should you need to!
A great strategy I recommend is continually checking the Special Offers, Deals & Discounts page to take advantage of special pricing like the current Canadian Resident offer on multi-day theme park ticketsstarting in early 2024. (Another great resource is using a travel agent that can be handy in snagging the tickets you need in a pinch; we have benefitted from ours and never realized how easy it can be without needing to pay any additional fees for the excellent service.)
While you’re here, be sure to check out the EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays which continues to run until the day before New Year’s Eve or even check out the decorations if you get the opportunity to hop over to Magic Kingdom Park as they’re often up into early January for folks to get a dose of some remaining festive atmosphere.
I’m truly hoping that you’ve already got your theme park tickets handy and be sure to pack just a little extra bit of patience if you’re looking to do as much as you can leading up to any New Year’s Eve celebrations, Barbara! Come back again to planDisney for any other advice, tips and tricks from our Canadian panelists again soon.
Wishing you all the best on your ticket quest,
Prince
