Beamforming is a wireless router technology that provides better WiFi range and performance for your client devices. For more information, see What is beamforming and how does my NETGEAR router use this feature?
Implicit beamforming does not require client devices to support beamforming in order to benefit from improved range and performance. Implicit beamforming can improve the performance of most WiFi clients, including older devices.
Implicit beamforming is enabled by default, but you can disable it from the router web interface.
To enable or disable implicit beamforming on your NETGEAR router:
- Launch a web browser from a device that is connected to your router’s network.
- Enter www.routerlogin.net.
A login screen displays. - Enter the router user name and password.
The user name is admin. The password is the one that you specified the first time that you logged in. The user name and password are case-sensitive.
The BASIC Home page or Dashboard displays. - Select ADVANCED > Advanced Setup > Wireless Settings.
Some models might use slightly different menu labels, like Settings > Advanced Settings > Wireless Setup.
The Advanced Wireless Settings screen displays. - Clear the Enable Implicit BEAMFORMING check box to disable implicit beamforming, or select the checkbox to enable implicit beamforming.
- Click or tap Apply.
Your settings are saved.
