MEMORIAL DAY EVENTS

South Glens Falls Memorial Day Parade, May 24: 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the South Glens Falls Memorial Day Parade starts on Main Street from the intersection with McHugh Street and proceeds to 5th Street, with a ceremony to follow at Veterans Memorial Park. The Moreau Community Center cookout 4 to 6 p.m.

CORRECTION Glens Falls Memorial Day Mile, May 27: Fast, flat, point to point race down Glen Street in Glens Falls. Race runs the parade route from downtown Glens Falls to Crandall Park. Lots of spectators as the race starts 5 minutes before the parade! CORRECTION Glens Falls/Queensbury Memorial Day Parade, May 27: The Glens Falls/Queensbury Memorial Day Parade starts on Glen Street from Maple Street and heads north to Crandall Park, where a ceremony will follow at the Victory & Peace Monument. The rain location is Glens Falls Recreation Center at 1 Fire Road. The parade begins at 10 a.m.

Lake George Memorial Day Parade, May 25: The Lake George Memorial Day parade begins on West Brook Road at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 25, and will proceed along Beach Road and up Canada Street to Shepard Park. A Memorial Day ceremony will follow in the park at noon.

Memorial Day Ceremony at Battlefield Park, May 27: Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance will host a Memorial Day Remembrance of the four unknown soldiers. The ceremony honors men believed to be American colonial soldiers killed during the Bloody Morning Scout in the 1755 Battle of Lake George during the French and Indian War.

Hudson Falls – Kingsbury Memorial Day Parade, May 27: The Kingsbury parade will form at the Franklin Street parking lot of the Hudson Falls High School and will start at 9 a.m. At 10:10 a.m., there will be a memorial service at the Veterans Monument J. Walter in Hudson Falls. At 11 a.m. the Hudson Falls village parade will begin. At 12:30 there will be memorial services held at the Hudson Falls American Legion Post 574, followed by an open house.

Corinth Memorial Day Parade, May 30: Please join us in celebrating our soldiers, past and present, at this year’s Memorial Day Parade. The Parade starts at 5 p.m.

LUNAR CHRONICLES ART SHOW, Sandy Hill Arts Center

May 21 – June 13: Features paintings and photography with a creative focus around the latest Solar Eclipse. View the show, four local artists, Vinny Otto, Hannah Williams, Sarah Calzada and Dino Petrocelli, contribute some very unique, young, lifestyle photography and paintings. Enjoy the show!

GREEN THUMB PRERENNIAL, Warrensburgh Farmers Market Park

May 25: Bring your plants in any size or shape container, and exchange for ones of equal size or value. If you are just starting your garden, we will share and hopefully answer any questions you may have regarding your soil and light conditions, hardiness zone and possible microclimate. Master Gardeners from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Warren County will be on hand to collect your soil samples for testing, provide informational handouts on various gardening topics and reference materials to help identify any mystery species. Copies of “Warrensburgh Wildflowers—Seasonal Wildflowers in the Southern Adirondack Region” will also be available to purchase. 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

SUMMER MARKET, GLENS FALLS FARMERS MARKET, South Street Pavilion

May 25: Join us at the heart of Downtown Glens Falls each Saturday, from May through October, for the Glens Falls Farmers’ Market – Summer Series. Nestled under the welcoming canopy of the South Street Pavilion, our market is a weekly celebration of the season’s bounty. Over 40+ local vendors showcasing fresh produce, artisanal crafts, and gourmet offerings. A lively atmosphere filled with live music to complement your market experience. A children’s table with fun activities that keep the little ones engaged. Freshly prepared food and beverages that will tantalize your taste buds.

AC/DC TRIBUTE BAND, The Strand Theater, Hudson Falls

May 26: Join us at the Strand Theatre on Sun. May 26, 2024 @ 7:30pm for an unforgettable night of rock ‘n roll! Back In Black’s AC/DC tribute with opening act Live Wire 518’s Motley Crue tribute will be an epic night of classic rock anthems! Back In Black will transport you back in time to relive the iconic hits of the legendary rock band, AC/DC. Expect an explosive show filled with head-banging anthems and electrifying guitar solos. $25 balcony, $35 lower level. Tickets are available at the Strand Box Office; cash or check only. FULLER ACRES FARM STORE GRAND OPENING, Fort Ann

May 25: Join us for the official opening of the Fuller Acres Farm Store! We will have opening weekend specials in store, brand new Fuller Acres merch, and we’ll be giving tours to meet our animals and to take a guided woods walk. After May 25th, we will be open daily from 9am to 7pm with a self-serve checkout system and rapid pick-up for online orders. 340 West Road, Fort Ann, NY 12827, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

BLUE BUTTERFLY WALKS, Wilton Wildlife Preserve

May 29 – July 31: The wild blue lupine is beginning to bloom in the Saratoga Sand Plains, covering the meadows in a carpet of lavender-colored flowers. There are numerous opportunities in both June and July to attend a guided nature walk to look for and learn about the federally endangered Karner blue butterfly that is native to the meadow habitat. Wilton Wildlife is offering free walks on Wednesdays, May 29—July 31. The walks will take place weekly at 1:30 p.m. and leave from the parking area at Old Gick Farm on Route 50. The walks last about an hour and cover a mile of gently rolling terrain. The walks will not take place if there is rain. Registration is required at least one business day in advance. GLENS FALLS SYMPHONY SPRING GALA, Lake George Club in Diamond Point

June 2: The Glens Falls Symphony will host its Springtime Gala at the Lake George Club in Diamond Point on Sunday, June 2, 2024 beginning at 4:30 p.m. This year’s Gala will honor the Gilet Family in recognition of their many years of support of the Glens Falls Symphony along with recognition for thirteen years of hard-working service to the Symphony’s Board of Directors as Chair of the Development Committee by the family patriarch, the late Albert (Al) J. Gilet, Jr. Tickets: $150/person, $100/juniors (under age 40).

53rd ANNUAL LARAC JUNE ARTS FESTIVAL, Glens Falls City Park

June 8 – 9: Mark your calendars! LARAC’s 53rd Annual June Arts Festival is happening on June 8 and 9 in historic Glens Falls City Park! Saturday, June 8th: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., Sunday, June 9: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. This two day juried arts festival is the largest fine arts event in the Adirondack Region. Representing over 150 artists from around the country, as well as live music from local musicians all weekend long, we are excited to be bringing this event to Downtown Glens Falls for its 53rd year. This event is free and open to the public. Rain or shine. This event is made possible with funding from Warren County Tourism.

SEAGLE PRE-SEASON SHOW, The Wood Theater

June 12: The Wood Theater will be hosting a special season preview of all the productions that are being done this summer at the SEAGLE FESTIVAL in Schroon Lake. So even if you can’t attend any individual performances at the theater in Schroon, this is a great way to get a sampling of all of them. The season: BRIGADOON, DON GIOVANNI, COLD MOUNTAIN, & SWEENEY TODD. Doors open at 6pm, mingle/reception/wine/beer/concessions available 6:30 show starts, ends at 7:45. FREE to members of the Wood Theater, $5.00 donation for non-members.

LAKE GEORGE WEDNESDAY MARKETS, High Peaks Distillery

June 19: Lake George Wednesday Markets will take place in lieu of the Farmers Market that was held in Shepard Park on Wednesdays in the summer. Farmers selling fresh produce and businesses in Lake George with physical locations may have vendor space for free! This vibrant weekly event runs through Aug. 21. 1 Canada Street, Lake George, in the parking lot at High Peaks Distilling. 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Happy Hour from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at High Peaks Distilling.

WARRENSBURG FARMERS MARKET, Recreation Field, Warrensburg

June 7 – Oct. 11: The Warrensburgh Riverfront Farmers’ Market will begin its 26th Season of “Bringing the Farm to You” every Friday afternoon from 3-6 p.m. from June 7th to October 11th. The market is an event of Warrensburgh Beautification Inc., a non-profit organization, celebrating its 40th year! If you grow fruits and vegetables, and may be looking for another direct sales opportunity, we would like to hear from you. We have six festivals throughout the season—Rhubarb (June 7th), Strawberry (June 21st), Blueberry (July 26th), Gathering of Artisans (August 16th), Apple (September 13th) and Garlic (October 11th).

SAIL’S ANNUAL GARAGE SALE, Southern Adirondack Independent Living Queensbury

June 13 to 15: The Southern Adirondack Independent Living (SAIL) Annual Garage Sale fundraiser returns to the Queensbury Campus, 71 Glenwood Ave. Queensbury. The fundraiser fills gaps not paid for through grant funding and other sources and helps the group’s mission of helping people live more independently. Thursday, June 13, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Friday, June 14, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Saturday, June 15, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. SAIL will accept donations from community members starting Wednesday, May 1, at the Queensbury or Wilton offices. GLENS FALLS MERMAID FESTIVAL, City Park

June 22: Calling all merfolk & friends of the sea! Come celebrate an eclectic kick off to summer at The Glens Falls Mermaid Festival! A celebration of creativity, community, artistic spirit and our relationship to our waterways! The event will start up at 12 p.m.! A parade for all those dressed up will kick off the event through City Park, followed by a costume contest! There will be food, vendors, live animals, a treasure themed scavenger hunt, live performances, entertainment and much more!

47th ANNUAL FREIHOFER’S SARATOGA JAZZ FESTIVAL, SPAC

June 29-30: The 47th Annual Freihofer’s Saratoga Jazz Festival will return for a full two-day and two-stage exhilarating festival experience on Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30 at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. Featuring a roster of twenty-two musical groups and ten festival debuts, the line-up is co-headlined by four premier contemporary artists. Guests are welcome to bring in their own food and beverages, as well as blankets, tents and lawn umbrellas. Parking for the event is free. Performances will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 29 and at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 30.

CONCERT IN THE PARK, South Glens Falls Historical Park

Aug. 7: The Southern/Country/Classic Rock sound of Rustic Spirit comes to South Glens Falls Concerts in the Park! Come on out for a great time! Music from Garth Brooks to Hank Williams Jr., Lynyrd Skynyrd to Marshall Tucker, The Rolling Stones to Bad Company and lots in between! A great mix to dance to and sing along with!
