Gilded allows users to connect their accounts by directly inputting their wallet address. When using the Input Address tool, it’s important to take several factors into account - the most important being the difference between a wallet address and an account receive address associated with an exchange. You will need a wallet address, not an exchange receive address, in order to use our Input Address tool.
We’ll go over the differences between a wallet address and an exchange account receive address, as well as how to properly use the Input Address tool to connect your account.

Wallet Address or Exchange Account Receive Address?
Before using the Input Address tool in Gilded, you’ll need to know the difference between a standard wallet address and an exchange account receive address.
Wallet Address - A wallet refers to a program that permits users to store their cryptocurrency. This can be a software wallet (Exodus, Coinomi, etc.) or a hardware wallet (Ledger, Trezor, etc.). The owner of a crypto wallet has complete control over the flow of funds, so long as they keep their private keys stored in a safe place and are not shared with anyone. Wallets come with a unique address that is permanent. Any and all funds sent and received from a wallet will use the same static address.
Exchange Account Receive Address - An exchange refers to a service that allows users to buy, sell, and trade cryptocurrencies. Users can store their crypto on an exchange, but they don’t have full ownership/control of the funds in the account like a standard wallet owner. In cases of Coinbase, Kraken, and BitGo, exchanges will automatically generate new addresses after every successful transaction. This prevents other users from checking past transactions or tracking the funds — thus preserving anonymity. This generation of new addresses means that you cannot accurately track all activity within an account using a single address.
IMPORTANT: Gilded’s Input Address tool requires a single, static wallet address. Using an exchange account receive address for the Input Address tool will result in incomplete and inaccurate account activity and balances. Make sure you are using a wallet address and not an exchange account receive address.
If you do have exchange accounts with Coinbase, Kraken, and/or Bitgo and would like to connect them to Gilded, make sure to use the Connect Custodian tool in the Accounts page. Do NOT input your Coinbase, Kraken, or BitGo addresses to the Input Address tool. Only connect these exchanges with our Connect Custodian tool. Otherwise Gilded will not be able to correctly read or display your activity.
Now, Add A New Account Using The Input Tool
To add a new account, navigate to the Accounts page and click the “+ Add Account” button in the top right corner. Choose “Input Address” from the provided list of options. The first step of using the Input Address tool is to know which blockchain to choose from. Currently, Gilded supports the following blockchains: Binance Smart Chain, BTC, ETH, Polygon, and Ronin. In the drop down menu, choose the blockchain that corresponds to the wallet address that you wish to connect.
Once you have selected your blockchain, give the account a name. This name will display in your Accounts page, as well as in all related transactions in the Activity page. Lastly, paste in your static wallet address. Make sure to double check everything and click “Save” when finished.
You have now successfully added a new account (wallet) to your Gilded account. You will be able to see your wallet’s transactions listed in the Activity page. You can also get an overview of your wallet in the Accounts tab. It’s worth noting that Gilded needs to extract all past data from the blockchain, so it may take some time for all activity to be reflected.
