You might be interested in the right homemade repellent that can double as a pest repellent to keep bugs away from your patio, home, and lawn. There are many home remedies that people claim can help keep bugs away. That said, not all of these homemade solutions are effective. But one ingredient that stands out is vinegar. So here we’ll share insights on whether or not you should use vinegar as a pest repellent. Click for more information and product reviews.

Using white vinegar as a pest repellent

White vinegar contains 92 -95% water and 5-8% acetic acid. The acetic acid gives white vinegar its characteristic tangy flavor and antimicrobial properties. Because of these antibacterial properties, many consider using vinegar as a cleaning solution. But how about using white vinegar as a repellent?

The only way to maintain the potency of the white vinegar would be to mix equal parts of the white vinegar with water. Many have also found this formula effective against insects like ants, mosquitoes, and spiders. Some bugs, like fruit flies and aphids, may also seek out vinegar if applied to your garden.

Using acid cider vinegar to repel insects

Like white vinegar, apple cider vinegar has similar functions but with a slightly sweeter taste. Hence most people consider acid cider vinegar as a less abrasive pest solution. In addition, it’s possible to use apple cider vinegar to repel crawling insects like ants and spiders alongside mosquitoes. Again bugs like fruit flies, aphids, and other insects that are generally attracted to decaying plant matter may also be attracted to acid cider vinegar.

The downsides to using vinegar to repel insects

White vinegar can help repel insects; you must realize that not all bugs will dislike vinegar. Beyond that, vinegar only works for a very short time and will require constant re-application. Furthermore, constant exposure to vinegar may irritate your eyes, skin, and sinuses. Vinegar may also be detrimental to your plants and will kill them eventually as you consistently apply it. Vinegar may stain certain surfaces as well. Good examples are granite and marble countertops, which can damage, discolor and dull those beautiful stone materials. It may also wear down surfaces such as stone, ceramic, laminated, and hardwood floors. So, if you are looking for a more sustainable solution against insects, there may be better options than vinegar.

When all else fails

Repelling mosquitoes, gnats, and ticks requires a holistic solution along with a pest repellent. Vinegar might be effective in killing mosquitoes, cleaning, and disease prevention, but it isn’t a sustainable tool for managing pests around your home. You need an equally organic solution that will not harm you and will protect your plants and outdoors while keeping pests away. Nature’s Mace Skeeter Mace is an excellent bug spray that works against mosquitoes, gnats, ticks, and other pesky bugs. Skeeter Mace is a valuable tool for pest management while acting as a general insect repellent to keep these bugs out of your home effectively. Nature’s Mace stands out because it is safe and fast-acting. Try Nature’s Mace today and keep harmful bugs at bay. Click for more product information…

Mole and Vole Repellant

I use double the recommended dose and I have had zero moles and similar creatures. I am using twice the dose remommended to see if it will work on mountain beavers in Washington State. I have tried it before using a single dose with a six month follow-up and was 100% satisfied with no mole signs or vole holes.. I think the owner is a military veteran and I like supporting him (them).

We are proudly Veteran Owner! Thank you for your support and review! We appreciate you!

Armida’s blues gone away

This is the only product that works for us. I have apples, pomegranates growing, and squirrels started taking my fruit. I sprayed bottom of truck of tree so they can smell it and carry sent on there feet for 3 days. I’m sorting on the limbs that have fruit, and now there’s no sign of rodents. I will spray again when needed.

Positive Results

I've been using the liquid mole repellant for four months. I was able to drive the moles out using half and half, repellant and dish soap, with cayenne pepper; 8 tablespoons per gallon of water. I treated the unaffected area of my yard twice about a week apart, then treated the affected area driving the moles through a 20 foot corridor. Mole activity was obvious in this corridor. I treated all areas again, adding the corridor and have not had moles since. I now treat about a 15 to 20 foot strip, running along the perimeter of my yard, about once a month, using the rain to soak it in. I spotted mole activity right up to the edge of the perimeter. That is how I know this is working.

Thank you for this excellent, detailed review. We are glad to hear that that you are seeing positive results. Separting and treating the yard in sections is the key to making our Mole and vole MACE work!
