565 is a USSD service from Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) Plc in collaboration with all Banks offering their customers the next level of convenience and speed in accessing transaction information.

Check your Bank Verification Number (BVN):
The NIBSS “check your BVN” service allows individuals to retrieve their BVN numbers, Customers are required to dial the shortcode (*565*0#) and the BVN is provided.
Note:
- The individual must dial the shortcode (*565*0#) using the phone number registered for his/her BVN
- A service fee of N20 is charged
- No BVN would be returned where the phone number is linked to more than one BV

Validate your Bank Verification Number (BVN):
This service allows you to validate a BVN. You can confirm that a BVN is correct as well as the name registered to the BVN.
You are required to dial the shortcode (*565*1#), enter a BVN and send.
The Name registered to the BVN is returned via the USSD session.

NIP Transaction Tracker:
The NIP Transaction Tracker service allows you to confirm the status of your NIP transaction. Dial the shortcode (*565*5#) and provide the senders account number as well as the transaction amount to confirm the status of a specific transaction.
The customer can also view his/her last 5 NIP Transactions.
Note:
- The service can only be used on the phone number tied to the sender’s bank account
- Only transactions completed within 48 hours can be confirmed using this service
- A service fee of N20 is charged
Possible Outcomes
- Response:“NO TRANSACTIONS FOUND WITHIN THE LAST 48HOURS”.Meaning:The NIP transaction that you initiated within the last 48hrs, if any, is yet to be processed by your bank. Please contact your bank
- Response:“ACCOUNT NOT FOUND”. Meaning: This mobile number is not linked to the account number supplied. Please use the mobile number registered on your bank account
- Response:e.g.“17- 08/ABALABALA/ No”.Meaning:Your NIP transfer to beneficiary ABALABALA that was done on the 17th of August, was not successful and expect a reversal from your bank. If reversal not received please contact your bank
- Response:e.g. “17- 08/NIYI/ Yes” .Meaning:Your NIP transfer to beneficiary NIYI done on the 17th of August, was successful. Inform beneficiary to contact his/her bank if the account is yet to be credited.
- Response:You see a few transactions (examples as seen above) and one or more are missing .Meaning:The missing transaction is yet to be processed by your bank.

Insurance Policy Validation:
This service allows you to confirm the existence and validity of your vehicle insurance policy. Customers dial the shortcode (*565*11#), enters the vehicle registration number. The status of the insurance for the vehicle is presented via the USSD session.
Note:
- A service fee of N20 is charged
Possible Outcomes
- Response:e.g“Policy Valid till 23 SEPTEMBER 2019”.Meaning:The insurance cover for the vehicle registration number you provided is valid till 23rd of September, 2019.
- Response:e.g“Vehicle Registration Number not found”.Meaning:This applies to any of the following:
- Vehicle registration number provided is invalid
- The vehicle has never had a valid insurance cover
- The insurance cover for the vehicle registration provided has expired over 1 year
