While the reader can be used with multiple devices, it can only connect with one device at a time. To connect your reader to another device, make sure to disconnect it from its current device. To disconnect your reader: Navigate to ≡ More > Settings.
Can two people use the same Square? ›
You can add one or more authorised users to the account, however, the ability to transfer account ownership is unavailable.

You will just need to download the Square Point of Sale app onto each mobile device, and sign in using the same Square account (username and password). The readers don't actually have any account information tied to them - the app is the brains of the operation.

What does red light on a Square reader mean? ›
If you see a blinking red light, that means your Square Reader battery is low and should be charged immediately. If your Square Reader is in a dock, make sure your reader is being charged. Restart your phone, tablet or other electronic device. You can also first try briefly putting your device into Airplane mode.

Your transfers are likely suspended because we noticed some unusual activity on your Square account. Our system periodically reviews your transactions to keep your account safe from scams and fraud.
What happens if I get scammed on Square? ›
If we determine a transaction on your account is likely to be the work of scammers, we'll alert you via email. Once you receive an alert via email, we ask that you not ship the order(s) being investigated or accept further payments from the customer in question until you hear back from us.

It's the account into which the device is logged that determines what business gets the information. You can safely sell or give away your reader with no repercussions at all to yourself.
