Windows Storage Sense is a silent assistant that works with OneDrive to automatically free up space by making locally available files that you aren't using anymore online-only again. Online-only files stay safe in OneDrive and are visible on your device.

Storage capacity is often used synonymously with "disk space." However, it refers to overall disk space, rather than free disk space. For example, a hard drive with a storage capacity of 500GB may only have 150MB available if the rest of the disk space is already used up.

In Computer Management, select [Disk Management]③. In Disk Management, right-click the existing volume you want to extend④, then select [Extend Volume]⑤. If there is no unallocated space, but you want to extend the existing volume, you are able to delete a separate volume, and then it will become unallocated space.

Disk space should be allocated to files such that the disk space is utilized effectively and files can be accessed quickly. There are three different methods of allocation: Contiguous allocation, Linked allocation and Indexed allocation.
