The allure of quick profits in the financial markets has, unfortunately, given rise to various scams targeting unsuspecting investors. One such manipulative tactic is the "trade signals scam," where unscrupulous individuals or entities exploit the natural ebb and flow of market movements to deceive subscribers and collect subscription fees.

This article aims to shed light on the deceptive practices involved in this type of scam and offers guidance on how investors can protect themselves.

The Trade Signals Scam Unveiled:

In the trade signals scam, fraudsters operate a signals service that provides conflicting recommendations to two separate groups of subscribers. The inevitable outcome is that one group will experience a series of winning trades, while the other will face losses. Let's delve deeper into the key elements and tactics involved in this deceptive scheme:

  • Creation of Two Opposing Groups: Scammers establish two distinct groups of subscribers within their signals service—one group is provided with signals to buy, while the other is instructed to sell the same asset. This ensures that, due to the inherent nature of market movements, one group will experience a winning trade, and the other will face losses.

  • Illusion of Expertise and Success: After a predefined period, the scammers selectively highlight the group that received winning signals. They present this success as evidence of their expertise in predicting market movements. By doing so, they aim to attract more subscribers who are enticed by the prospect of easy profits.
  • Repetition of the Deceptive Cycle: The scam is designed to be a repetitive cycle. The winning and losing groups can be switched (or new groups created) in subsequent rounds, allowing the scammers to perpetuate the deception. This not only sustains the flow of subscription fees but also creates an ongoing illusion of success, making it difficult for subscribers to discern the fraudulent nature of the signal service.

  • Subscription Fee Collection: The ultimate goal of the scam is to collect subscription fees from both groups. As investors seek out signals to enhance their trading strategies, they are lured into subscribing to the service in the hope of replicating the apparent success showcased by the winning group. The scammers profit from the subscription fees paid by both the winning and losing groups.

Some signal providers will offer the first month FREE. Based on the table above, even charging $10 a month only for signals, from the 2nd month onwards makes it extremely profitable for the signal provider.

In essence, the trade signals scam relies on exploiting the randomness of market movements and selectively highlighting success to create an illusion of expertise.

Protecting Yourself from Trade Signals Scams:

  1. Thorough Research: Conduct comprehensive research on any signals provider before subscribing. Look for a verifiable track record, customer reviews, and testimonials from independent sources.
  2. Use Reputable Platforms: Choose well-known and reputable trading platforms or signal providers with a positive reputation. Avoid services that make unrealistic promises of guaranteed profits.
  3. Beware of Unrealistic Promises: Exercise skepticism when confronted with services that claim to have foolproof trading strategies or promise consistent profits. The reality is that financial markets always involve risks, and there are no guarantees.

The trade signals scam is a disturbing example of how manipulative tactics can exploit the trust of investors seeking financial success. By staying vigilant, conducting thorough research, and being wary of unrealistic promises, investors can protect themselves from falling victim to such deceptive schemes.

Easiest way to know if someone can trade or not is ask them to show 50 setups of their entry, and exit levels for a few weeks into the future and see how it goes, you'll find they'll crawl back from under the rock they came from and continue selling their courses or seminars to make a living
