When you use Google Meet, we process some data to offer you better experiences in the product. Your information stays secure. You can always control your privacy settings in your Google Account.

To use 1:1 and group video calling in the new Meet app, you need to enable calling. On a mobile device, this requires you to provide and verify your phone number. To use meetings in the new Meet app, you need to connect your Google Account.

When you make a 1:1 or group call on the new Meet app, the audio and video is encrypted end-to-end and not stored on Google servers. Messages sent in the new Meet app are stored encrypted on Google servers. If you turn on live captions, we use audio data, which is not linked to identifiable information and not stored. Your name, email address, and phone number help sync your data and keep you updated

To store your preferences, help you sign in, and inform you of service changes, we save your name and email address.

To help you know who is in your meeting, we save the phone numbers of other users dialing in by phone and show them during the meeting.

Your information helps you create & manage your Google Account

To create a brand new Google account, we collect your name and phone number. When you manage your Google account, you can choose to provide your physical address, upload your contacts, or add a profile photo.

Meet uses data to improve your experience

To provide services like spam filtering and live captions, we process your content. For live captions, audio data is temporarily sent to a Google transcription server, but is not linked to any user identifiers or permanently stored.

To improve Meet’s performance and reliability, and to help with troubleshooting in case of issues while you use Meet, we collect performance data and crash analytics. We also save this info to help prevent abuse of our services and for analysis.

Google Meet doesn’t use your content for advertising

We don’t use information in apps where you primarily store personal content—including Meet—for advertising purposes, period.

Google respects your privacy. We access your private contentonly when we have your permission or are required to by law. With the Google Transparency Report, we share data about how the policies and actions of governments and corporations affect privacy, security, and access to information.

Control your search history

To save you time when you search for contacts in the new Meet app, we show you recent phone numbers or email addresses that you’ve searched for and store those searches.

To save you time when you search for help in Google Meet, we store some of those Help Center search queries.

To review or manage your Google Meet search history, use My Activity.

Sync your services with your location

To understand how your experience of the product may relate to geography, like when you send feedback to Google, and to keep your account secure, like if we notice you have signed in from a new location, we save some location info.

Delete your call history

You can review and permanently delete details about your call history and message history on devices that are:

  • Signed in with the same Google Account
  • On the latest version of Meet

You can take your data with you

Everyone should have access to the content they’ve shared with us—any time and for any reason. That’s why we created Download Your Data, so you can download meeting invites (via Calendar takeout), call recordings you own (via Drive takeout), and polls/Q&A you’ve moderated (via Gmail takeout). It’s your choice to make a copy of your data, back it up, or even move it to another service.

You are always in control of the data saved to your Google Account.
