The only safe on the market with both a U.L. 2 Hour Fire Rating and U.L. RSC Rating
Hand built at our plant in Syracuse by our highly skilled craftspeople, these Gardall Classics are designed and manufactured using techniques perfected since our opening in 1950.
2 Hour Fire Testing
The U.L. 2 Hour Fire rating is one of the most rigorous tests available, moderated by one of the most highly respected independent testing laboratories in the world. The test involves heating the safes to 1850°F for two hours, dropping the safe from 30’ to simulate a structure collapse, then re-heating the safe. At the end of this process, the safe must be intact and functional. The interior of the safe must not exceed 350°F throughout the entire process.
Gardall uses a proprietary mix for the poured insulation of its U.L. 2 Hour Fire / U.L. Burglary Safe line that has been fine-tuned over decades, resulting in an incredibly robust and consistent structure. With only a few rare exceptions, all other fire safes on the market use fireboard or sheetrock as insulation. Gardall is the only company fabricating and pouring safes in America.
U.L. RSC Testing
To pass the U.L. Residential Security Container (RSC) test, a technician is given technical drawings of the safe, hand tools, and unrestricted access for at least 5 minutes. If the safe thwarts these efforts, it is awarded the label.
