Troubleshooting your phone while roaming in Canada | Support (2024)

You may have a problem connecting to one of our roaming partners in Canada if automatic carrier selection is turned off in your phone's settings.

If your phone isn't getting a signal while you're travelling in Canada (outside Saskatchewan), try these steps:

1. Make sure Airplane Mode or Flight Mode is turned off.

2. Try restarting your phone:

   • For most phones, turn the phone off, wait 10 seconds, then turn it on again
   • For phones with a removable battery, remove the battery, put it back in, and press the power button

3. If restarting your phone doesn't work, make sure your phone is set to automatically choose the carrier.
   

   Android

   Different brands of phones may have slightly different steps.

   1. Go toSettings > More Networks > Mobile Networks > Network Operators.
   2. Choose Select automatically. Your phone will automatically search for networks.

   iPhone

   1. Go to Settings > Cellular > Network Selection.
   2. Make sure the Automatic setting is On. (Tap the On/Off slider if it was Off.) Your phone will automatically search for networks.
