Why won't my bank account link to Square? ›

Double check your account information and carefully enter it again. You may need to contact your bank to confirm your routing and account numbers. Credit Unions often use an electronic account number for transfers from Square (ACH transactions), which can be different from the account number on your checks.

You need to link a United States bank account to process payments using a U.S. Square account. If you have a business with multiple locations, each location can share a single bank account or you can link a unique bank account to each one.

Update your device, app, or browser

For payment links sent from your Square Dashboard, check that the browser you're using (like Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, etc.) is up to date. For payment links created in Square Point of Sale, make sure both your device and the Square app are up to date.

You can link multiple external bank accounts to your Square account to easily update where you receive your transfers between your locations, but individual Square accounts can share a bank account if needed. Note: You'll only need one account to manage a single business with several locations.

The bank account linking and verification process usually takes a few minutes, but for some banks it can take up to 4 business days. After your account is fully verified, we'll send transfers according to your transfer schedule.

Square may debit a bank account for one of the following reasons: You process a refund. A cardholder disputes a payment by issuing a chargeback. To charge you for a paid service.

After you activate a Square Point of Sale account and link a bank account, funds are automatically sent to your linked account per our standard transfer schedule. With our standard schedule: Payments taken before 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET will be available in your bank account the next business day.

Can two phones use the same Square account? ›

Can I use Square on more than one device? You bet! If, for example, you have multiple sales reps, all they would need to do is download the app on each of their devices and log into the Square account for your business.

The login and password associated with your financial institution may have changed. To solve this problem, first verify your login and password on your financial institution's website, then go back into the app and try reconnecting your accounts.

The financial institution isn't yet supported on Plaid
