At the end of 3 day visit to a very remote area of Sierra Leone, I started to have a strong headache on the way back home. The trip to the city of Makeni was 3 around hours. During those hours I lost all my energy and almost my conscious. Once in Makeni, I was brought to the hospital. They immediately did a blood test - I was positive to malaria and typhoid. The hospital admitted me until for all the treatments. Once discharged I continued to take other drugs to finish the treatment.

I got a food poisoning from a buffet dinner in Siem Riep, Cambodia. I was feeling unwell at night, had diarrhoea and vomiting. I had to go to the bathroom again, so I got up from bed and I fainted before getting there, hitting my head against the door's frame. Yes - our travel insurance plans offer cover for more than 200 adventure sports and activities.
- Am I covered if I need to see a dentist while overseas?
Yes, there’s cover if you need to go to a dentist while abroad for emergency dental treatment.
- Do you need to include stopovers as a destination when buying travel insurance?
While there may be many reasons to buy travel insurance to help protect you for unforeseen events such as trip cancellation, injuries, overseas medical or dental emergencies, or baggage cover, you don’t need to purchase any extra travel insurance if you are making a quick stop-over in a country and not planning to leave the airport.
- Can I buy travel insurance if I'm already overseas?
Yes - If you're a UK resident then you are most welcome to buy a policy while already travelling, although waiting periods and limitations may apply,
- Do you offer a student discount?
European students and graduates may qualify for a discount with World Nomads, subject to terms and conditions. To check whether you meet the requirements for a discount, you need to verify your student details with Student Beans or Grad Beans - these are third party services who provide student or graduate verification services.
