1. Landing at Brussels International Airport
Arriving at Brussels International Airport, you can easily reach Ghent’s city Centre via a choice of transport.
Travelling by train from Brussels International Airport to Ghent-Sint-Pieters Station
The train station is co-located within the airport. Travel from Brussels International Airport to Brussels-Central or Brussels-South (Bruxelles-Midi), where there is a smooth change to Ghent.
After picking up your luggage, proceed to the Arrival hall and go to level -1, where you will find the train station.
It takes approximately 60 minutes (on a direct train) to reach Ghent-Sint-Pieters train station. Trains operate 7 days a week, at least 30 minutes from 5 am until midnight. Please check the current timetable here. The adult single fare (‘normal’) is 17.80 euro. Tickets can be purchased online or from ticket machines (passenger terminal, train station). Keep your ticket to hand as you will need to scan it before entering the tracks.
The congress venue is only a 20-minute walk from Ghent-Sint-Pieters train station.
Travelling by taxi from Brussels International Airport to Ghent-Sint-Pieters
Taxis cost approximately €110 from Brussels International Airport to Ghent City. Please only use registered official taxis. You can get a Taxi by joining the queue outside the terminal.
2. Landing at Brussels South Charleroi Airport
Distance from Brussels South Charleroi Airport to Ghent City Centre will be approximately 110 km, without traffic the duration will be 1 hour and 20 minutes.
How to get to Ghent from Charleroi airport?
Travelling from South Charleroi Airport by Shuttle Bus:
Flibco operates a bus to Ghent-Sint-Pieters station every 1-2 hours between 7AM and midnight. It takes +/- 1 hour and 35 minutes to reach Ghent-Sint-Pieters. Shuttles operate every day of the week, although there are fewer available on Sundays. Please check the current timetable here. The single fare is +/- 20.00 euro. Tickets can be purchased online or from the shuttle bus driver.
Travelling from South Charleroi Airport by taxi
Please ensure you always use licensed taxis. Rates will be around € 180,00 per person one way.

Travelling to Ghent by car
Ghent is located at a central junction of several European motorways and can be easily reached by car. Are you planning on coming to Ghent by car? Please note that the city centre of Ghent is now a low emission zone. Register your vehicle before coming to Ghent and check whether you can enter the zone.
Getting around Ghent
On foot
Ghent is perfect for exploring on foot. Most city highlights are situated close to one another, in the historical centre where pedestrian zones make walking friendly and safe.
Bike
At various locations in the city you will find the orange shared bicycles from Donkey Republic, the blue electric shared bicycles from Dott, the electric shared cargo bikes from BAQME and the green electric shared bicycles from Bolt. You can borrow the shared bicycles via the applications of the various providers. After borrowing, return the shared bicycle to one of the many permanent parking locations.Ghent is a great place to explore by bike. Move fast throughout the city centre with the city bikes.
Public Transportation
You can get around Ghent using buses and trams. However, the Old Town and many other historical places are located within walking distance. Tickets can be bought online or by card when boarding. A Single journey adult fare is €2,50.

In order to avoid unpleasant surprises, we recommend only using licensed taxi companies. Such taxi should have a visible pricelist, a taximeter and a company logo with a phone number. Taxis can be ordered by phone, some of them online or at a taxicab stand.
