Should I splurge for luxury bedding at my Airbnb?
If your Airbnb is a high end property, you absolutely want to match the quality of the bedding to that standard. The comfort of the mattress and all the bedding on it will be something your guests will remember. That includes the sheets, pillows, pillow cases, duvets, comforters, throw blankets, etc.

What color sheets are the best?
Keeping your bedding stain free at a vacation rental can sometimes be a challenge. People spill things or makeup gets on pillow cases or a million other things that can cause a stain.
That’s why choosing the right sheets for Airbnb is super important.
So, what kind of sheets will keep the longest for this type of situation?
White sheets, always!
Why white sheets? You can bleach them and almost any type of stain will come out.
White sheets also give your guests the feel of being clean.
TIP: Always keep a container of bleach for your cleaners to use (if you don’t do the cleaning yourself). Use it as a spot treatment before putting in the wash in addition to adding bleach to the wash if you see a spot on any of your sheets!

Vacation rental sheets, duvet covers, throw blankets, and everything else you need to know about picking bedding for your rental. Budget options and luxury options for bedding - all of my picks are below!
But don’t darker sheets hide stains?
Possibly.. but not always. And the thing is, you can’t bleach sheets of different colors or patterns.
Using white linens for your Airbnb will allow you the choice of bleaching them completely if they get stained.
You also don’t want to completely hide stains. If your cleaner doesn’t notice them, they might not realize that the sheets need to be spot cleaned and you will potentially have an unhappy guest.
If you do decide on a non-white set of sheets, make sure you have at least 1 spare set for each bed in the house at all times.
Stains WILL happen and the only thing you can do is be prepared.
Do I Need A Mattress Protector?
The clear answer 100% of the time is… YES YES YES.
The mattress for your Airbnb rental is probably one of the pricier items in the bedroom. You want to protect it from getting stained or ripped – but you also want to make sure its super clean for guests.
The vacation rental linens are almost guaranteed to get ruined at some point but adding a mattress protector will avoid having to replace the actual mattress.
If you’re still furnishing your Airbnb, the mattress is very import. Be sure to do your research on the best mattresses for rental properties.

Guests will not take care of your bedding in the way that you would at home.
Protect your mattress from dirt, stains, and so many other things. The best way to do this is to get a mattress protector with a zipper so that it doesn’t fall off!
You want to make sure your Airbnb mattress is kept in good shape at all times.
How Do I Pick Between A Duvet or A Comforter?
My opinion on this is that with a Duvet set, it allows you to wash the cover without washing the insert.
A duvet cover will easily fit in the washer WITH you sheets. A comforter needs to be washing separately, therefore taking way more time.
Tip: Have at least 1 extra set of bedding on hand per bed in case of stains or rips.
A comforter is bulky and sometimes not even machine washable. If you do decide to use a comforter, make sure that it can fit in your washing machine!
Always wash your duvet covers or comforters in between guests.
Should I Leave A Throw Blanket On The Bed?
It’s really your preference! Does it look nice? Yes! Will every guest use it? Probably not!
The only other thing to keep in mind if you’re leaving throw blankets out is that you want to make sure your cleaners wash them frequently. Along with all of the short term rental linens, throw blankets should also be washed in between guests.
The one thing I will say is that IF you do leave a throw blanket on the beds, make sure that your cleaners are going to wash them every time!
You don’t want an unexpected stain on a throw blanket and have a guest complain thinking that your beds are not clean!
In my AirBnb – The Beach Life Bungalow – I did decide to leave a throw blanket on each bed. The front bedroom is a flamingo theme and I’ve found so many fun flamingo decor items including this flamingo throw blanket.
A throw blanket is a great way to add a pop of color to your white bedding.
How Many Pillows Should I Leave On Each Bed?
My rule of thumb – 4 per bed. If there are 2 people sleeping in each queen or king bed, you want to make sure they have enough pillows! Oh and a comfy mattress.
How many pillows do they leave you in a hotel? I would meet or exceed what a nice hotel provides.
Should I leave extra linens and sheets at my Airbnb?
You should definitely have extra Airbnb linens available for guests. Just in case something happens during their stay like a stain or a rip in their bed linens. If you don’t leave extra sheets/bedding/linens, they may be calling you to ask to provide more.
Another reason to leave an extra Airbnb linen set is for your cleaners. In case there is a tight turnover time, they may need to use the extra set and wash the current ones off site.
