I recently won a bid on an item, paid for the item and it has been five days since and item still hasn't shipped.
Is there a time limit for shipping a item after it has been paid for?

Hi. Actually there are 2 standards on this. Ebay policy states a seller MUST ship within 30 days of recieving a cleared payment. BUT sellers will recieve seller defects on their record if they do not ship within the handling time shown in the listing shipping details. These defects quickly cost seller money in lost discounts & promotions & can lead to severe listing restrictions.
You as a buyer cannot open a not recieved case until at least the next day past the last estimated delivery date showing in the listing. You have 30 days following that last estimated date to open a not recieved case.
Some foolish sellers still do not purchase online viewable tracking & ebay cannot force them to do this. They may have shipped either without tracking or just failed to enter the tracking # into the transaction. If they print labels via ebay/pay pal labels the tracking is automatic in purchase and in posting the tracking # into the transaction. If theypay for shipping & purchase tracking at post office, ups, etc instead of thru ebay the tracking must be entered manually by them when they return back to their computer.
For not you can use the ask seller a question and inquire about tracking # and delivery status. If their answer does not satisfy you just open a not recieved case the next day followinglast estimated deliver date in the listing. If this is a Chineese seller file as soon as it will alow you as they keep making primises hoping to stall you until your time runs out.
Good luck, Jim

First, many sellers don't upload tracking, nor are they required to. So you have no idea if the item has shipped or not. As for shipping time, it varies from seller to seller. If this is about the jacket, the seller's stated handling time (found on the Shipping& Payments tab in the listing) is two business days after cleared payment. Since the listing ended on a Saturday (not a business day), and Monday was a US holiday, the seller didn't have to ship until yesterday.
