Step 1: Preparing for the trip!
When crafting your Thailand itinerary, a few things can be done to better prepare for the trip.
We recommend having a pocket WiFi or SIM while you’re there so you can easily stay connected at all times. There’s a couple options available and you can pick them up from the airport for more convenience!

Step 2: Getting around
Source: PixabayOnce you arrive in Thailand, the trip truly begins! One of the great things about Thailand is how easy it is to get around, so you’ll really get a chance to explore the different areas.
We definitely recommend getting the BTS Rabbit Card, to make it easier to get around via trains, without needing to line up for every ticket.
Now while there are trains to get to the different cities of Thailand, you can also opt for a car rental if you’d like that level of personal convenience. But if you can, we advise the more immersive and scenic route of taking the trains and TukTuks! Definitely a must-have in your Thailand itinerary!
Step 3: Backpacking in Thailand

There’s a lot to visit in Thailand, from the busy districts of Bangkok, to historical and cultural sites in nearby cities. With its rich cultural heritage, there’s no shortage of things to see in your solo trip to Thailand!
1. Culture and Heritage
In the capital city of Bangkok, there are plenty of things to add onto your Thailand itinerary. For one, you can explore some historical cultural temples like Wat Pho, Wat Arun, the Grand Palace, and the Emerald Buddha. There’s also fun activities like a visit to Safari World to see some of the vast wildlife up close.
One of the places you can go to is the city of Ayutthaya, a UNESCO World Heritage Center which is not too far away from Bangkok. Here you can find some iconic destinations like the reclining Buddha statues at Wat Yai Chan Mongkhon, or the Bang Pa-In Palace. You can also indulge in some delicious treats at the Ayutthaya night market to make your trip to Thailand even more memorable.
You can also visit the city of Chiang Mai, where you can visit some fun locations like the Chiang Mai Night Safari, or the Elephant Eco Park Tour. There are also a few temples like Wat Rong Khun, Wat Rong Suer Ten, and Baan Si Dum with incredibly intricate and unique architecture!
2. Beautiful Beaches
If beach scenes and beautiful waters are what you’re looking for in your solo trip to Thailand, you can head over to phu*ket and Pattaya.
phu*ket is one of the best beach destinations in all of Asia, and as such there’s a bunch of activities you can add to your Thailand itinerary.
Explore the Racha and Coral Islands to see some beautiful sea life and swim in clear blue waters. Engage in other fun water activities as well like scuba diving and surfing. You can also opt to explore Aquaria, the largest aquarium in Thailand.
You can also check out Pattaya, where you can find white sand beaches and clear waters. Besides swimming in the waters all day long, you can check out the Pattaya Floating Market where you can buy souvenirs, eat delicious Thai dishes, and watch cultural performances.
There’s a few more places to visit in Pattaya as well like the Sanctuary of Truth, Nong Nooch Tropical Garden, or maybe even get the full experience out of your solo trip to Thailand by exploring the nightlife with the 89 adult show.
