Travel Essentials
A brokerage firm has researched streets in the world people look at most intensively and consequently find the most aesthetic. We have summarised the top ten here.

It is said that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But how do you determine what is beautiful, more beautiful or most beautiful? The real estate agent comparison site "GetAgent" test-measured those streets in the world people perceive as being the most aesthetic. Participants in the experiment were asked to look at a series of pictures of famous places. With the help of AI (Artificial Intelligence), the eye movements were then analysed to determine which images were viewed most often and for the longest time. Of course, the more there is to see, the longer a picture is looked at.
Top 5: Blossoms and bright colours
But which are the “most beautiful” streets in the world?
1 Philosopher's Walk, Kyôto
In first place is the famous “Philosopher's Walk” in Kyôto, Japan. This two-kilometre-long path, which is said to have been used for daily exercise by famous 20th-century Japanese philosophers and Kyoto University professors Nishida Kitaro and Hajime Tanabe - hence the name - is particularly captivating at cherry blossom time. The trees on both sides blossom in April each year, bathing the path in cascades of pink.

2 Rue Principale, Rocamadour
Rocamadour is a tranquil village in France, home to just 600 people. However, it is extremely popular with tourists because of the “Rue Principale”, which is part of the “Way of St James”.

3 Via Baldassarre Galuppi, Burano
The “Via Baldassarre Galuppi” on the Italian island of Burano is probably one of the most colourful places in Europe. No cars, but a row of colourful houses and the classic Venetian canals create an image that seems to almost come from a dream.

4 Herbert Baker Street, Pretoria
Herbert Baker Street is the South African equivalent of Philosopher's Walk. Each year, between September and November, the “Jacaranda” blossoms and transforms the cityscape into a purple symphony. “Herbert Baker Street”, however, stands out in particular, as white jacaranda trees also blossom on it.

5 Lombard Street, San Francisco
The famous “Lombard Street” must, of course, not be missed. Apart from the lush flowerbeds, a special highlight is the famous series of hairpin bends, which are probably unique in the city's architecture. But take care, as there is a speed limit of 5mph (miles per hour) for tourists who visit!

The other places in the top 10
Great Britain is represented no less than three times in places six to 10. From picturesque village streets to fascinating city architecture, it's all there. But a city on the European mainland and an Asian metropolis have also made it into the top 10.
